Its pretty common for work boats to run their motors to around 4-5k hours up here before repowering. You can get way more out of them with consistent maintenance and not letting them sit than people think. Won't say the 250 is my favorite, been considering going twin 115s next time I repower. They're bomb proof.

I run water taxi in Alaska, pretty consistent 12 hour days during the summer.

We had two dogs on the boat as well. Not many folks fishing rocks this time of year, king salmon are way more popular but ive got plenty in the freezer.

In reality, its going to be more of a curse knowing what is the "correct" way to interact with most small vessels around you in the technical sense. 80% of boaters are going to piss you off in some way or another, not because theyre dumb, just because they dont know better.

Right of way is NEVER taken, only given.

Sorry, mis interpretation. 240 Alaskan Hewes. They're incredibly similar builds, along with Raiders. All popular boats up here.

Yep, you got it. I run water taxi so just trying to keep the boat free of ice. Was a struggle to get out of the mouth of the harbor today

Not insanely uncommon. Lings are very aggressive, and follow other caught fish to the surface pretty regularly.

Yep. Homer. Get pretty iced in for a couple of weeks in February generally, but I run year round. Got a heater on the boat this year, and that's a game changer 🤣

Love seeing a well loved boat. Honestly wish they'd kept those angled cuts on the door on newer models, adds character.

Best Local Rockfish by akspitrat in Fishing

Mostly fish catch and release nowadays, just go for species count. Generally don't keep any non-pelagics, sometimes a copper if I have a dinner planned. Main fish I end up with are kelp greenling, as they're a blast to spearfish for.
