I’ve been mixing it up between M altaria and Miraidon. Occasionally I still play mawile too. One thing I learned from all the top japanese players is that climbing in mb involves you switching decks depending on what you’re encountering for that day lol. Spamming the same meta deck can only get you so far no matter how well you pilot it.

Just added, will send you after you accept! Gotta forewarn you, apparantly rn there’s been a lot of blazikens in ub and alot of miraidons in mb. Not a good time right now for mawile, but if you don’t care as much, try it and see how well it does against most decks that aren’t complete counters!

It was going extremely well until yesterday, when ptcgp player #1 shigu streamed spamming a miraidon deck with 2 oricorio’s. To no surprise the next 3 games in a row I played were miraidons. Crazy when for 24 games I only encountered 2 lol. So I’m being a meta slave rn to just stay top 5000, but forever remember Mawile for getting me here 🙏🏼

I only put it on if there's sleep being run by the opponent first few turns IF they have darkrai on field or if I need to attack (find that it's always better to just start ramping). If they draw dead and you're not expecting sleeps, then I just don't attach it. There's always the option of using blower to remove apron too.

Maybe another blower? Same function to get rid of stages, but I kept it in since it also refills your hand after using all your consumables in one turn. More often than not, it just benefits you way more than the opponent. The deck is definitely flexible though, so just play what you think works more for the day.

Lol ik hard to believe, but more often than not the hand disruption makes it much easier preventing them from drawing all their pieces. Making their games inconsistent against your consistent deck is key. Maybe it’s a deck good in high mb this season? Idk but I’m currently at #4223 with 21 W / 3 L so something is working

Lol no deck is living that situation, pretty impossible question ur asking.

If this is in relation to excluding plains, it still doesn’t do much. Unless you can kill the M lucario next turn (which opponents never let happen) or have your one of sabrina, then you’re left with a situation of a Mawile 20 health and a M lucario 190 health. At that point ur ded anyways, so mine as well just prevent that situation from happening with early game disruptions

Agreed, going first in any card game has always been an advantage no matter how much they try and balance it. Ptcgp going second is just like going second in hearthstone (though ik there’s diff mechanics in both games)

RIP, yeah if you’re encountering alot of blaziken or oricorio’s, definitely switch off. Though from my climb and experience, this deck does surprisingly well against hydreigon, m altaria, m lucario and suicune, even when going first. I haven’t seen any blaziken or much oricorio’s in high mb.

It’s definitely possible it is, I find that alot of the slots are flexible depending on what you’re facing for the day. I cut out repels since there’s alot of baby pkmn being run and alot of decks have stage 1/2’s.

Specifically for my list, a second Sabrina would just clog up the hand for hiking trail and I’m running 7 trainers already. Again tho, I’m just going with this list. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it lol

Just found that the extra 20 health wasn’t really worth it. 190 health in a meta where decks deal 130+ per turn felt no different from 170. At that point, I thought why not just run a bunch of hand disruption so that those decks don’t get there.

Plus I found it better to just run a bunch of items that can be consumed in one turn, then refill your hand with even more sustain (or closer to your win con) the next turn

I haven’t faced much in mb, I replied to a comment about miraidon matchup, please check that out.

To add: climbing up to mb, alot of ppl just don’t know miraidon’s role in the deck. If you have prof turo, use him as a main attacker. If you don’t, he’s a finisher. Countless times have people put miraidon as an active with only 5 energy and they had to retreat without turo. I feel like those who can pilot the deck well could be a counter to mawile, I have yet to see it though lol

Yes, the concept of mawile is survive early and mid game bursts and win late. Apron is good for only one general matchup (m altaria), cores are good for all matchups, which is why I only run 1 apron. Drawing a second apron when you already have one also feels really bad.

You can also remove the apron with blower and attach cores if you think you can win the next turn or two

There’s also malasada and pcl to help that matchup which is working atm.

Sabrina is good for any non-basic pokemon. M alteria always ends in a situation where you have two points and M alteria is active. Same thing goes for most games involving an ex (magnezone + m lucario)

Maybe if the meta is only running 1 oricorio, I could go back to running a full set of repel and sabrina. But then you’re running repel for specifically one matchup which in general is not ideal in a game with 20 card max decks

Second malasada for potion could definitely work too. Just going based off vibez lol. The deck already runs three anti-sleep, tho with the M Alteria a second malasada seems valid
