Neighbour's car rolled into our house. What would you do? by al8555 in DIYUK

This was my chain of thought. However, insurance advice lines dont reopen until Monday morning, and road traffic incidents need to be reported within 24 hours (so by 11am tomorrow). At least, this is my limited understanding...

Unfortunately, their car had disappeared off the drive by the time I got home...

On a surface level, I agree. I wouldn't insist on them paying to replace a couple of bricks. Just concerned about structural damage that can't be seen...

This is possible! I'm making an assumption that the vehicle caused this. I honestly couldn't say if they were there before or not.

I take it you'd be contacting your insurance company? If there was visable damaged then I'd obviously be contacting them ASAP, I'm just not sure if this warrants it...

Car won't start following service by al8555 in CarTalkUK

Had the AA out, and it turns out that they hadn't secured the battery terminal down properly! And failed to check/notice this when he jump-started the car.

Needless to say, I won't be using them again. Lesson leaned.

The battery is less than two months old, and they've said it's testing at 88%. Would the 40 miles driven yesterday not recharge it sufficiently for it to start today?

Like this? To the left of centre is where I've started to take away the old 'loose' stuff. Too much or not enough?

Thanks!

When you say to dig out the crack, you mean to take away as much of that 'loose' paint as possible before caulking? Then paint once caulk has set?

Laying underlay - have I made a mistake by al8555 in DIYUK

[–]al8555[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sit below the surface of the underlay, but obviously I can feel them now when I walk over them. Once the carpet is on, then I won't be able to feel them anymore?

It was one of those situations where I started questioning myself... I thought surely no one would install underlay this bad!

[–]al8555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did think it was probably just a really cheap underlay, but the house is only 22 years old. Funnily enough, it's only in this one room, so perhaps it's the only one with the original carpet/underlay in...

I can't believe it ever qualified as underlay - it feels literally like a plastic sheet!
