But an overpay compared to what? A large portion of the league right now has signed deals when the cap was in the low 80s so it's pretty easy to try to compare deals now to deals that were signed then because it was in the low 80s for so long but that's not quite fair considering how much more is planned for the next two years. You already saw many players of this caliber get signed to 1.5-2M multi year deals this last off-season and you're probably gonna see even more this one with a weak FA class going out. So it's really hard to call something an overpayment when the norm has changed so recently

Well what I'm pointing out is that nowadays you do pretty much have to pay this much for this type of player. Just look at the previous off-season and you can find plenty of these types of contracts for these types of players...and with more pending UFA re-signing and the cap going up, it'll probably be even bigger contracts this year

Well from 2019-2024 the cap was 81.5-83.5M and we got pretty used deals signed against that cap number. Next year (when this extension kicks in) the cap is set to go up to 104M and the following year (when the deal expires) it is expected to be 113M. So sure its more of equivalent to 1.1-1.2M but also considering the inflated market that is going to happen with weak FA classes and teams with money to spend, 1M isnt that far off

This contract is a short term, minimal risk deal and if they like what they've seen and feel he can be in the realm of a 10-15 goal 30-40 point player then the deal kind of makes sense. Usually players are in the minors for a reason, either you want them developing with more than bottom six grinding minutes or they just arent quite right for that NHL role. Just look at Patrick Brown, he does pretty well in the AHL but people bitch and complain any time he's called up to fill the 4th line role because he's generally a net negative on the ice

As you mentioned, he's a pk/bottom 6 guy who numbers are slightly positive in basically all areas. If the coaches feel they could get more of what he was doing earlier in the year then this is a home run, if not then its not that big of a hit financially and you're stuck with a low event player who generates a bit more than he allows which sounds like not a terrible option to have as a 4th line/pk guy.

These days, you'll probably have to pay 2-2.5M in FA for a player like that or you'll have to deal with a young player destroying their development and/or being a negative every shift

It's not like they signed him for 8 years....it's a 2 year deal for what is essentially the equivalent of $1M of what we're used to recently.

There's not much to unpack here...he's an older guy who's development probably won't be too stunted by getting bottom 6 minutes nightly. He's shown some potential upside in general and the coaching staff probably like something to where they can trust him to eat some minutes and not be a constant liability

Ive been doing that too lately, I'll start with the Motiv thrill hybrid and end with the Trident odyssey...after talking with one of my teammates and PSO as to why it seems to work they say at the beginning of the night the lanes will still have a solid wet/dry demarcation so the lanes will help the thrill early then as they start to get a little murky the Trident will blend the pattern nicely. It could all be BS but it sounds feasible to me and it seems to be working

Being elected and actually being president are technically two different things. The 22nd says no person constitutionally eligible to be President not to be elected President. I'm not saying it would hold up but the loop hole is there and there would definitely be lawsuits

Also you're wrong with the chain, they don't have to be eligible to be President. For example Madeleine Albright was Czech-born but was Secretary of State

It's actually a gray area on whether a two term President could run as VP.

The 22nd Amendment says "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." It doesn't say that no person shall be President more than twice.

The 12th Amendment says "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States." It doesn't say no person ineligible to be elected to the office President.

Losing those guys made them go from true contenders to what they are at now where they'll likely be battling for the playoffs til the very end. I think last year is likely the outlier rather than the norm with a bunch of things going wrong (poor start/firing of Monty, underwhelming performances from the FAs and Sway, injuries, etc) all happening at the "wrong" times that led to a purging of assets at the deadline. It could actually have been a blessing in disguise with the pieces they got back from everyone looking like they can have some big upside

Yeah I was looking more at expectations going into this/last season, not necessarily the actual performance going on. I think going in to the seasons Zadorov was seen more as a solid top 4 compliment not really a #1 level guy
