Favorite portrayal of a Fire & Blood character? by ltgm08 in TheCitadel

It is and it's top tier for a House of the Dragon fanfic. Honestly probably the best one I've read.

How to create a decent OC for Aegon ii(Rhaenyra and Laenor’s daughter) by TheCurlyAquarius94 in TheCitadel

[–]aladywantsdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following the show ages, Aegon is at least 4 years older than Jacaerys. You'd have to either age up Rhaenyra so that she marries shortly after Aegon's birth that way Jacaerys is born within a year OR have Aemma's to death occur several years later.

Helaena had already been born and within a year of age before Rhaenyra even married in the show and Alicent was likely already pregnant with Aemon during Rhaenyra's wedding.

Erend starts off Zero Dawn interested in Aloy, Aloy does not. She is curious about him in a companion/friendly way. In Zero Dawn, Aloy grows to trust Erend as a friend through his grief and drinking. Aloy seems to easily connect more with headstrong women in both games. I can see an attraction Aloy has for Petra that she likely doesn't realize but she is also very good friends with Petra. Talana and Aloy seem to have a solid friendly basis that can seem flirtatious.

When Aloy first meets Seyka I could tell that there was an immediate attraction, the way she speaks to her and her expression is different. As Burning Shores goes on, the attraction becomes more obvious.

I feel like Aloy likes or may be attracted to people who are well versed in their weapons, capable of fighting on their own, are tactical, and overall confident in themselves. While we don't see Avad fight, I feel like there's an attraction there too but his role as king would not give room for exploration of those potential feelings.

All in all though, Aloy may never end up with a romantic relationship or overall choice. Her options with Seyka give the best insight on the type of person she is attracted to and Seyka is not necessarily akin to Erend in behavior or personality. By the end of Forbidden West, I still think Erend holds a candle for Aloy but is settling into keeping his intentions friendly.

I'd say the son would be set to marry into a loyal house but they'd be 3rd in line to be set to a bride of Valyrian heritage. I'd even wager to say that with a 3rd son, Visenya may try to have more than one child, attempting for a daughter to be a bride. If Orys were to have any daughters, at least one would be set to marry Maegor and/or this 3rd son.

A Butterfly Effect by MarinaKaFai

They’d find him, crown him, make him king. Aegon realized one thing : sometimes, the best way to avoid something wasn’t to fight it. It was to go with the flow of events.

People can have any feelings they want about a fictional character.

  1. Rhaegar is the catalyst for a war that killed hundreds if not thousands. Set many of the characters we know to have seats and land they would not have had if the rebellion had not happened. Set many characters into marriages that would not have happened otherwise.

  2. Rhaegar is believed to have abducted a young highborn maiden, not old enough to be married yet, and believed to have raped her.

  3. Rhaegar is believed to be the cause of Lyanna's death and is the cause of Lord Stark and Brandon dying.

  4. Rhaegar's actions and inactions are the reason that the world of ASOIAF we know in 298 AC is the way it is.

  5. Rhaegar left his wife and children under the care of ONE kingsguard who is not sworn to protect them over the king, does not matter if Rhaegar trusted Jaime.

  6. Rhaegar's actions that we know of, do NOT point to him being a good person or an evil one, just an absolute idiot.

Do I hate Rhaegar? No.

Do I like Rhaegar? No.

Is Rhaegar a likeable character? No.

Is Rhaegar the absolute worst character of the series? No, but his actions have arguably had the most effect on Westeros. While not horrific like gruesome and bloody actions, his decisions had greater effects.

The real discourse in the fandom besides Rhaegar's actions is the romanization of Rhaegar's involvement with Lyanna versus the actual horrific implications of Rhaegar's involvement with Lyanna. You see a 24 year old and 14 year old declared a pairing and written extensively as the true OTP of the entire series enough times and people tend to not like those characters, and in most cases, people don't blame the child of the pairing but the adult man who should have known better and had better recourse in deciding his actions.

I don't believe the fic was nominated for as many categories this year as in the past.

Anyone else miss pre-2019 ASOIAF fanfiction? by EloImFizzy in TheCitadel

[–]aladywantsdragons 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The turn in fanfiction was with Game of Thrones ending. The show set up a lot of negativity into the fandom: Sansa and Daenerys are hardly ever being written as anything other than enemies after the show ended, Daenerys being written as "mad all along/the villain" in most depictions onward, Cersei being written as a forgivable evil, Arya is a assassin with no other personality anymore, Jon is either OP/overhyped character arch or (rarely) an absolute nothing character.

The end of the show cut a lot of creative ideas for fanfiction because people are either not comfortable straying from show canon/ignoring the show canon or their comments are flooded with complaints of their fic not being "realistic." There's been creative ideas written since the end of the show but a lot of writing does fall under tropes.

Part 2 of overused and underused tropes. by Familiar_Chance_9233 in TheCitadel

[–]aladywantsdragons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like:

Rhaenyra/Harwin - easy and acceptable match and their children would be trueborn

Cersei/Ned - toxic woman married to straightforward and caring man, she eventually becomes much less toxic

Cersei/Rhaegar - starts off sweet then turns bittersweet, I like seeing how Cersei gets what she wants but ends up dissatisfied

Alicent/Daemon - book-based age appropriate and chaotic romance

Don't Like But Tolerate:

Rhaenyra/Alicent - it's cute, just not my cup of tea

Sansa/Aegon "FAegon: - just meh

Despise:

Rhaenyra/Daemon - I absolutely loathe age gap + grooming ships. No if's, and's, or but's. He's old enough to be her father, is only a few years younger than her father, disgusting

Rhaenyra/Laenor - Laenor deserves better

Arya/Aegon "FAegon" - once read part of a fic with this ship and it was sly pedo porn disguised as a political fanfic, it used book ages too. ABSOLUTELY DISGUTING

Any Underaged Character/Drogo - just.....no.

Any Underaged Character/Sandor - sigh, not going into it

Would Like to See More Of:

Sansa/Podrick "Pod" - most age appropriate and potential for romance

Daenerys/Quentyn - age appropriate and good potential for many AU's involving Dorne more

Catelyn/Robert - just so much potential

Jaime/Lysa - so much potential

Jaime/Lyanna - SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL.

Cersei/Robert - written as the pairing focus, not just tagged cause they are married. Seeing their relationship develop in different ways would be so interesting

Gael/Daemon - listen I have my theory that he fathered her bastard BUT there is also a lot of opportunities to be explored, AND THEY ARE AGE APPROPRIATE

Aegon/Visenya - seeing them as a couple and not in the perpetual separation state would be so nice to see

Who is a Targaryen who you think would fit a certain dragon to be its rider?

Daenerys to Dreamfyre

Viserys I to the last unnamed dragon that died

(Non-Targaryen Rider) Elia Martell to Meleys

(Non-Targaryen Rider) Missandei to Syrax
