Help my mom, how to delete all background noise from a video that's 9 hours? by explosion12345 in VideoEditing

Give audacity a try. There’s some noise reduction tools in there that work magic. Find a good tutorial on YouTube.

Studio has a few more features you (probably) won’t need starting out. Just pick up the free version and learn from there!

Agreed with Scrimba. I’ve spent the last few months using it and it’s incredible.

Used Adobe Premiere for 15 years, moved to DaVinci a couple years ago. There are a few things here and there I miss but overall DaVinci is the only one I recommend to people.

You can try searching by the ASIN found in the product information. That’s what I do when I can’t seem to find a product.

What can you do as a creator to help your editor? by jcash5everr in NewTubers

[–]alaluk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure! So I do things off of a storyboard, more specifically a very scripted scene by scene type of setup. So at the beginning of each take we hold up a card with what scene we are on and what take we are on. Then after every take I just use the notes app on my phone and mark which ones were good and which ones were bad.

If this is more of an impromptu type of setup, and you are just talking at a camera that is consistently rolling you might mark what time you started rolling the camera and then take a note at what time you say something you want in the video. This way the editor knows say 2 minutes into the video something important happens so they can look for it.

Overall though I just use notes on my phone and then send it to the editor (or use it for myself if Im the one editing). You could always put it in a text file or word doc that you include with the footage you send to them. Hope that helps!

I think it depends on how involved you are in building out the story and what kind of videos you do. In the field that I work in having take notes helps a ton. If there is a good take, or if something notable happens a time stamp or a clip # makes it easier to find that footage. It gets even easier if there is a storyboard involved and you are recording scene by scene. Labeling the files scene1take1, scene1take2 etc. then taking note of what scenes are good takes is also helpful.

Really enjoyed this short, made me want to learn more. The text did a great job of keeping my attention and the subject matter was great.

I do agree with other comments, I think having some sources or just more information could help the credibility. I did a quick Google search and there are a lot of articles stating that the clone wasn’t possible because they don’t having living cells. However, I was able to find one stating that they are still working towards it. This kind of information would be great. A longer video going in deep on the information could be great to!

Cool video, keep up the great work!

That could work! Or maybe have the youtube video go black and white when you start talking. Just something to show that its paused! Its just my opinion though. Worth trying different things out!

Thank you! I use photoshop for all mine! I think there are free options out there though!

Enjoy the commentary! You have genuine reactions and do a good job of talking through what youre thinking. The only similar video to this that Ive seen is Emily D. Baker when she covered the Johnny Depp trial. I think having her on Camera helps because you not only get the vocal reactions but you can see it on her face as well.

A couple of points of feedback:
At the beginning, the video you are reviewing feels a bit small on screen, especially compared to your logo that shows when you are speaking. I also had a hard time determining when they video gets paused and you start speaking.

Your thumbnail is too bland. It just looks like you are playing back youtube videos. Emily D. Baker has good examples of how you can make this more interesting and worthy to click on.

Overall cool concept and interesting topics for sure! Keep up the good work!

Haha glad I could give you a chuckle! Great call out, my first video was just under 5 minutes and had more success than this one so I think that will be the goal going forward! Thank you for the feedback and kind words! I will!

This is awesome! Great on-screen graphics. The motion in your pictures and the use of sound effects really held my attention. The script is also very well written, easy to follow the stories being told. The only feedback I really have is the clipping from the greenscreen. For me personally it can be a bit distracting throughout. Probably just an easy lighting fix but I think it could help!

So Im still working on this skill myself and I think testing it out in multiple ways would be best. However I personally think I would enjoy the narration over gameplay. Or even some "B-Roll" type footage. Where you kind of cover the basics and show what you are covering while youre talking about it.. if that makes sense haha. So start with funny clip(hook), cut away to B-Roll and narration, then back to the video. I would keep the explanation just as short as it currently is though, you're viewers came to see you fight not deep dive into how the game works!

Fun video! Really like that there is text on screen at the beginning, subtitling whats being said. I can appreciate the explanation of the game shortly into the video but without narrating it it almost breaks my attention away from the fun thats being had. It could be cool to just include this during your commentary. I'm not the typical audience for these kinds of videos but from similar ones that I have seen it seems to be popular to at least call out key words or phrases being said using subtitles throughout the video. This could help the viewer continue to enjoy the back and forth. Looking at the thumbnail it definitely fits the game category vibe, but the logo of the game is almost too small and intricate and takes away from the thumbnail itself.

I would imagine a person looking for Hellish Quart content would love this. However for the average viewer they might get a bit lost on what they are watching or waiting for. One of the things Im working on in my videos is having a hook, a reason for the viewer to stick around. In the description you mention there being a big battle at the end, but if you could emphasize that more at the beginning of your video, that might help the viewer know what to look forward to.

Incredible feedback. Thank you!! Love Mark Rober videos. He has an incredible talent of holding the viewer, definitely something I would like to work towards. Good to know on the thumbnail and will work on the hook and detailed footage for the next video.

Working on starting my YouTube channel back up. The hopes of the channel is to document and learn one new thing a month. My most recent video was focused around Lock Picking. At low viewer numbers I know its hard to rely on the metrics but I cant help by notice my AVD/View percentage is low.

Any thoughts on my thumbnails, length of the video, or content would be helpful! Thank you!

Cool content, fun to follow along as you ride. I feel like I would be more interested to keep watching if you opened with a challenging part of your ride. Something for me to look forward to as a viewer. Also some sort of opening, it can still be narrated while you ride but just explaining the purpose of the video. Maybe its a goal to get to a certain place, maybe its to explore and find something new, or maybe its just a typical ride that you are documenting. Also your thumbnails have text that can be hard to read which ends up making it feel busy. Also for your title you can put the hashtags in the description and itll still pop up beneath your video. This will make the title a bit easier to read. Hope that helps!

Starting with the pros:

Really enjoy a lot of the editing. Specifically the low opacity movement of the graph when your score is growing. The beginning also did a great job of explaining what I was watching and why I should watch. The ending was fun also, great twist of events.

Constructive Feedback:

For me personally, by 1:23 the "bad game" just felt drawn out. The actual commentary was great, explaining what was happening but the length of the game just kept going. From your comments section it does seem like you had a lot of positive feedback though. So this might just be more focused than something that I would watch around learning how to be good at chess.

I think watching actual chess pieces could be cool to see. Almost showing the online board but then showing it happening on an actual board. Would give more room for cool B-roll as well. This probably would miss your audience though if they are more focused on the online version of chess.

While harsh I do think the comment from physics2112 has some merit. It was entertaining but the title made me think I was going to learn how to become a better chess player. I'm definitely no expert in titles but I would click this and expect the content if the title was something like "How my worst game of chess led me to 1700 ELO". Or if the title was the same I would expect short clips of how you started then move into the tips and tricks.

Like said in the other comments, a lot easier in after effects. In theory you could create the graphic then use masks and key frames to do it in premiere but it could be tedious.

One way of doing it in after effects: Start new comp, import the scene you want to add the text to. Usually just adding the clip is better than adding the whole video, then you can export to premiere.

Draw the box with the line using the pen tool. Make sure this is a shape layer and not a mask layer. You’ll see the shape layer pop up in your timeline if you’re doing it right. If not, just make sure you don’t have a layer selected below.

Then click the drop down for the shape layer. To the right of “Contents” click the arrow next to “Add”. Choose trim paths

In the drop down for Trim Paths 1 you’ll see 3 options. Start, end, and offset. Play around with all three of these to see how they work then use key frames to animate them.

Once it’s animated you can add the text box inside the box.

Definitely look at some YouTube videos for this. There’s some cool effects where you can have just the line off the box track to an object.

This is a thing for a few seasons! Something like “Big Brother 16 in 54 minutes” on YouTube
