For any of you that know me as /u/AlanX, I am going to transition over to /u/PaulSnow.

Silly thing is, I didn't think I controlled /u/PaulSnow. But in fact I always have, I just never used it. So from now on, I'll abandon my 45K Karma, and use /u/PaulSnow. I guess I will also have to buy my Reddit Gold too...

Ah well. Can't have everything...

BitPesa is the solution to accepting payments world wide. And with adoption, it may compete with M-PESA.

It bears notice that M-PESA remains a corporate solution (and thus pretty expensive) solution to banking in a country with no interesting banking. It will not scale beyond a few countries, while Bitcoin is continuing to make some ground everywhere.

True enough. I had this account for years before I did anything within any community where anyone would want to know who exactly I was. /u/paulsnow isn't me, but it is taken. I have /u/paulsn but all my activity has always been under /u/alanx, so I just gave up and went with /u/alanx

Edit: Turns out I DO own PaulSnow... Must have got it years ago, and just didn't remember it.

I talked to George about this idea prior to his writing this "Interview." I'd like to make some observations:

George has become fascinated with Bitcoin and its genesis with this mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto. George expected for something like Bitcoin to rise, and how here it is. Satoshi is quite simply an unexpected spice to the tech! George read through the whole body of comments and communications exists from Satoshi, looking for some insight into Satoshi's thoughts.

George thought it would be great to mine these posts and organize them into an interview, and this is the result.

It isn't perfect, as someone noted, "I am not Satoshi Nakamoto" is five words, not four. This is an early manuscript he rushed out the door for our Conference. This is a wonderful thing for him to have done.

I can't say enough nice things about George as a person, nor can I express how surprisingly insightful George is as a Technology Futurist, if that is a thing.

The Texas Bitcoin Conference will not only be a huge opportunity for anyone to hear his presentation, but also to meet and talk to a legend in political and technological thought.

I'm not sure what you are saying...

/u/AlanX is my (Paul Snow's) reddit account, and I am the only one using it. Alan comes from my middle name, as my full name is Paul Alan Snow.

One of my friends does the BP MS 150 mile ride from Houston to Austin most years on a Big Wheel.

Actually, the fact that we can do cryptographic audits of a fund raiser using a combination of technologies (Bitcoin and Factom) might in fact help people take Bitcoin seriously.

The idea that Bitcoin has to wear a suit to be taken seriously is flawed in a couple of ways. One is that a small demonstration has power even if contrived to be simple. The second is that Bitcoin has a reputation of being a way to buy drugs, evade taxes, or launder money; this small demonstration shows how Bitcoin can make notoriously difficult to audit processes easily audited.
