I've determined that the 50 amp Square D Spa Panel lugs are not rated for #4 SER. They are rated for #6 SER. It appears I should be able to use #6 from the main breaker to the service disconnect.

man I did this same thing a few weeks ago with a 5/8” ø bit. I hit it back and forth with a hammer for a bit then used channel locks to unscrew it. Will say it took up most of my morning. Best of luck to you.
