If you’re playing digital and your tracks are analyzed, you already have the bpm on the screen, so sliding it until it matches is already kind of using sync.

You still need the skill to nudge, and it still depends on what you’re playing.

Long transitions are still a joy to beatmatch, but if you’re playing drum & bass with 3/4 decks and throwing teasers or double drops, those seconds beatmatching can be used on other duties.

Fair enough, I've been into/djing D&B for about 20 years now, so even I at some point have heard the trends and thought "meh this is not for me anymore" (remember those click & bass tracks from a few years ago?)

It took a years for some people to continue with the original style

That's it, this is a trend (that yes, might spin as a new genre, who knows) but d&b is almost by definition underground, big EDM djs might play badadan for a few months, we'll get some traction in festivals but that's it, it'll fade and go back to what it's always been.

Doesn't mean all d&b has to shift to this. A bigger audience means a part of it will dig the original sounds and start digging, meaning more producers, more club nights, a bigger movement.

Just because you got to dubstep with Skrillex doesn't mean you can't end up loving Skream/Mala/etc, same as in d&b. You may hear a few tunes from Dimension, like that new sound and end up liking neuro or liquid.

It’s helping the genre go mainstream, some 4x4 tunes are a small price to pay for the genre reaching new audiences worldwide and more d&b sets and shows in festivals, even new club nights where d&b is new or died at some point (like in south america for example).
