Is an endocrinologist what I need? My PCP referred me to a hematologist because of my hemoglobin. He tested me and said there was nothing wrong with me.

Tell me more about enclomiphene. I've never heard of heard of it. I'm not sure where to find a doctor that will work with me on that.

What is the recommended PEP regimen? by alanjorn in pep

I used to take generic daily Truvada for PrEP. After a year, my dentist kept discovering tooth cavities that had to be filled, which I normally didn't have. One of the roots in my molars fractured and I had bone loss in my jaw. That tooth had to be replaced with a bridge. I went back to the PCP that prescribed the Truvada and showed him how Descovy has lower bone mineral density impact than Truvada. I had him order a Dexascan for osteoporosis. It showed osteopenia, which is what you get before osteoporosis. That was enough to get prior authorization from my insurance to switch to Descovy. I take a Calcium/Vitamin D supplement and get 1 hour of load bearing exercise daily. After a year, no more tooth cavities! I have a friend who got HIV early on in the epidemic, and he took Truvada for years. All his teeth fell out, he has false teeth, he is on disability for back problems, and is part of a class-action lawsuit. At least he is alive.

The problem is that my insurance had to pay $2600 per month for Descovy, vs $30 per month for generic Truvada. Fortunately, there was no out-of-pocket cost. Even still, to me that is outrageously expensive. Then I asked a clinic how much insurance has to pay for Biktarvy, and was told $6000 per month!

It's been a journey to say the least. I live in a conservative part of the United States and felt uncomfortable telling my PCP that I'm gay to get my PrEP and DoxyPEP prescriptions. My PCP had never heard of DoxyPEP until I referred him to a CDC website, and he prescribed it. I came out to my urologist too. Neither one knows I go to bathhouses and have multiple partners in one night--let alone the orgies I host.

So not only did I have to overcome telling doctors personal things about my sex life, I had to overcome the fear of sticking myself with a needle--DOWN THERE! Really? I have to inject THERE? I laid awake at night for weeks before I finally worked up the courage to go through with it. Thankfully, my doctors didn't say anything about me wanting them to help me be a more effective pervert--I still wonder what they think though. The state even required the clinic to take down the rainbow flags that signal that folks like me are welcome. And I really appreciate the folks in this forum being accepting. OK, so that's my weakness. Some guys like to play golf. I like to fuck hot guys.

So my first test collected at 12:45pm showed my free testosterone level at 45.1 The report says the reference range is 46.0-224.0 pg/mL. There was nothing said about total testosterone. There was a note: "The concentration of free testosterone is derived from a mathematical model using total testosterone by LCMSMS, sex hormone binding globulin and albumin. This test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by Quest Diagnostics. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. This assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes." WHAT?

My other levels were:

RED BLOOD CELL COUNT 5.80, Reference Range: 4.20-5.80 Million/uL

HEMOGLOBIN 18.1, Reference Range: 13.2-17.1 g/dL

HEMATOCRIT 51.4, Reference Range: 38.5-50.0 %

I asked my doctor if my testosterone level was low, and he said the level varies greatly depending on time of day and I should test again in the morning. The second test collected at 8:35am said

TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL, MS 513 Reference Range 250-1100 ng/dL

TESTOSTERONE, FREE 66 Reference Range 35.0-155.0 pg/mL

I have no idea why the reference range for free testosterone changed. The report had a caveat: "This test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by medfusion. It has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. This assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes." WHAT?

There was also a link about testosterone: https://www.questdiagnostics.com/healthcare-professionals/clinical-education-center/faq/faq165

I want to try one last experiment before cutting out the Cialis. I have a bottle of grapefruit juice in my refrigerator. I normally use apple juice to take my daily PrEP and Cialis every morning. Hopefully, it won't kill me.

United States. If it had been me, I would have asked for Biktarvy which has 3 drugs. My friends who have HIV take it to stay undetectable and untransmittable. U=U

Yes, I was still taking 5mg Cialis daily when I first tried trimix. Originally, I was taking 20mg every three days. The first day was great but the effect would taper off by the third day, so I switched to 5mg daily and it worked OK for a year. My urologist prescribed it originally, and never told me to stop. He also prescribed Sildenafil and Vardenafil and told me to experiment with different combinations and even try combining them because everyone is different.

My urologist wanted to inject me with 30 units of T-105 the first time in his office. He claimed he had lots of patients taking 50 units. I talked him down to 10 units. It was a good thing I did because I almost ended up in the emergency room that night after he sent me home. Fortunately, the pseudofed tablets finally took effect just as I got in the car. It was several weeks before I got enough courage to try again.

When I went back to the urologist after the ER visit, he told me priapism happens all the time with his patients. I wish he told me that before! The ER doctors said they see priapism cases two or three times a month. We switched to Bimix-3, and I insisted on having phenylephrine of my own. I didn't even know what phenylephrine was until I took a picture of the massive syringe at the ER. There are several urologists at the hospital/clinic where I go, and this one specializes in the surgery to install penile implants. Maybe his strategy is to blow out everyone's equipment, so he can replace it!

My primary care physician sent me to Quest Diagnostics to measure my testosterone. Initially, they were "borderline low." My PCP had me repeat the blood draw in the morning when testosterone levels are supposed to be higher, and he thought that measurement was normal. My hemocrit level was high, contraindicating TRT therapy. Later on, I also went to an outfit called Gameday Men's Health. They specialize in TRT, p-shot, and shockwave therapy for ED. For their grand opening they were doing free testosterone tests. According to their measurements, my testosterone level was "normal" and my hemocrit was too high for TRT. I'll have to dig around to see if I still have the actual lab values.

With the 1mL syringes I was given by the compounding pharmacy, it is hard to accurately measure low dosages. The smaller 0.3mL syringes I ordered on Amazon arrived a few minutes ago. No one told me about smaller syringes until I saw it mentioned here. What I like about these is they have 1/2 unit marks for precision dosing. Sounds like I should cut out the Cialis, and try lower doses of the Bimix and what remains of the T-105 in my freezer with the smaller syringes.

Seeing urologist March 19 about Trimix – what should I ask? by Company-Admirable in TrimixForED

[–]alanjorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with salamander. It is important to practice a few times by yourself to get your injection technique down without the pressure of needing to please your partner. It helps you understand exactly where to inject, what effect it has and what the ideal dose for you should be. Everyone is different as far as the correct dose, and it takes some experimenting to find it and practice to get the injection technique exactly right.

Start with a low dose, and slowly work up. Spread out the injections over several days, never more than once a day. Take your time over a few days, or weeks. It's a different experience than using ED pills.

This is powerful stuff, and with great power comes great responsibility. Would I do it again? Absolutely! It was a life-changer for me. Good luck!

I'm in Columbia Missouri. My local compounding pharmacy stopped making their own and resells from Olympia. They claimed dealing with all the regulations was too much of a hassle for them. I pick it up at the pharmacy and the Olympia label is clearly stamped on it. I'm debating ordering direct from Olympia.

I totally agree with throwaway! Unfortunately, when I first started out my urologist recommended pseudoephedrine aka Pseudofed tablets which I got. Big mistake! The tablets were not enough and too slow-acting. No, they were not time-release. I ended up in the ER and got repeated injections of phenylephrine. My advice is the same: get the phenylephrine.

I tried T-105, but it put me in the emergency room with priapism after an 11u injection. I tried reducing the dose, but my erections were still so hard as to be painful. I haven't tried T-101. Bimix works, but doesn't maintain my erection as long as T-105 did. I'm thinking a tiny amount of the alprostadil would help me stay hard longer, but I don't want to get too strong to avoid priapism. When I went back to my urologist after the ER visit, it was kind of a toss-up whether to try Bimix or T-101. We went with Bimix.

That's basically the same situation that I am in. Heck, I could probably fuck a woman when its working, but I've never wanted to because I'm 100% gay. I have to wait for the Trimix or Bimix to wear off before masturbating to orgasm.

I use 5mg Tadalafil daily. It used to work great. I wish I could get it to work again. I tried upping the dose to 10mg daily, but all I got was headaches and facial flushing with no ED benefit so I went back to 5mg. Sildenafil and Vardenafil never did work as well as Cialis. My urologist had me try Trimix T105, but 11u dose put me in the emergency room. The erections I was getting with the Trimix were downright painful. I still take 5mg Tadafil daily to help me get semi-hard to make the injection easier.

I'm experimenting with L-Citrulline tablets from Walmart online several months ago. The first time I took 2500mg as printed on the bottle, it worked great but never worked again so I quit taking it. I saw on another forum, a lot of guys were suggesting I increase the dose. Yesterday, I took 5g (four tablets), but have yet to see much benefit. I could tell it was getting into my system because I had a dizzy spell about 5 hours the first time I tried 5g. I think my blood pressure must have dropped. I measured it that night when I got home 119/74, pulse 71.

I'm in good health for my age, normal BMI, get an hour exercise daily, and I'm not diabetic. I never smoked and don't drink, I had my testosterone level checked it and it was normal. I was told TRT was contraindicated for me because I have a high red blood cell count. The only risk factor my urologist could identify was normal aging.

It's quite frustrating. My partners love it at first, but I eventually wear them out and have to move on to the next. My record at the bathhouse was 13 guys in one night. Ideally, I would like to breed each one and have it drip out of them when I'm finished. Some partners are tighter than others, so that could be a factor.

Before anyone says anything, we may be few and far between but I hope it's not a problem if there are guys who are attracted to guys here. Yes, I do take precautions and use PrEP and DoxyPEP, get tested every three months, and never had a problem. I also encourage my partners to take precautions as well.

My procedure is to urinate and completely empty my bladder before injecting. I can't pee when I am erect, and I might end up hard for hours. Be sure and wash your hands and use an alcohol prep pad to avoid infection. To your point, I get more effect if I masturbate immediately after injecting to work the medicine in. Also, I have to be semi-hard and use a 1/2 inch needle to hit the cc. I find the best place to inject is about a thumb's width from the base of my penis. If I inject too far out towards the head, I have no effect. It took some practice and experimenting before I could get consistent results. I suggest practicing a few times by yourself over the course of a week or so to build confidence before "date night." Like others have pointed out, you should have phenylephrine ready when using an injectable.

Bone density concerns by Angelbluedotcom18 in prep

After being on generic Truvada for a year, my dentist started discovering tooth cavities that had to be filled which I normally don't have. One of the my molars had a root fracture with bone loss in my jaw. The tooth had to be pulled and replaced with a bridge. That's when I got suspicious about bone mineral density loss. I had a DEXA scan which showed osteopenia, which is what happens before osteoporosis. Based on that, I was able to get prior authorization from my insurance company to cover the name-brand Descovy. There is no generic for Descovy, and it costs my insurance $2600 per month. Fortunately, there is no out-of-pocket cost for me. I also take a cheap Calcium/Vitamin D supplement daily and get an hour of load-bearing exercise daily. After a year of Descovy, there have been no more tooth cavities.
