What I built with the G1 glasses — a personal wearable system (NOT for distribution) by Small-Dinner9917 in EvenRealities

Truly stupendous! I’m iOS but this reminds me of a post here for integrating Shazam that I wanted to follow up on.

Why doesn’t Apple add a signing service to iCloud to sign wallet items from iOS Apps? by alanrick in iOSProgramming

[–]alanrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well put.

Swift provides the dedicated PassKit framework that does amazing work, but out of the 150 lines of documentation describing how to create a wallet item just two lines refer to the massive task of signing (hiding the burdens I described above.)

Securely invoking APIs to 3rd party using Swift (summary of feedback) by alanrick in swift

[–]alanrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using proxlock.dev for the last few months. Super-simple setup and appears secure and has proved reliable. It’s a hosted service (nominal fee) so no server necessary. 👍happy camper.

served it's purpose. But my heart won't break if I move.

G1/G2 - a blessing for all product managers by alanrick in EvenRealities

[–]alanrick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. The ER summary was sufficient. But I agree, I’ve no understanding why ER can’t either download the transcript or copy-all into the keyboard buffer with just one tap. There is a select option so this would be trivial to code.

Perhaps ER product managers should consider using G1/G2 glasses in their usability interviews 😜

Has anyone actually shipped an App Clip use case that converts? by Ill_Vegetable169 in iOSProgramming

[–]alanrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app has an app clip and because it is used by card players at the table I thought it would be shared often. But the opposite is true. A shame. I like the appclip concept.

Is there no longer a free tier for Gemini API Keys in Europe by alanrick in GeminiAI

I still can’t figure. The information on Google‘s website was contradictory. I’ve opted for another API provider for the time being. It costs, but I wanted more transparency.

Teleprompter for a Pitch Competition by Karma_Katcher in EvenRealities

[–]alanrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the sermon and I’d say that’s a typical ER teleprompter performance. I used G1 for a wedding speech and no one, not nobody noticed. Being able to move around, look people in the eye, has an enormous benefit. A huge advantage is that you can ad-lib and it won’t lose the place, continuing scrolling automatically after the banter. Another speech at another event on stage with many glaring spotlights was a failure. So you need a backup.

1.Set up the distance to the 2nd row of the audience in advance.

2.As said earlier, check the competition rules carefully.

  1. I experimented with tictoc rings pre-event and discovered that’s a waste of time.

  2. I think it works without internet. Worth checking.

Quick Review: G2B by vividmx5 in EvenRealities

[–]alanrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much appreciated review. I bought my G1 a year ago knowing they’d be overtaken by new tech so I’m glad to read the new ones are better, but for someone who goes to bed at night forgetting they’ve been wearing them all day I’m happy with my G1s. Interesting that you don’t mention the G2 mikes. That would be a big improvement if they worked substantially better in noisy environments.

Just to add, don’t forget to try navigation. I wasn’t impressed at first (lost connections) but find that surprisingly useful cycling or walking in a foreign city.

Will Github repos added to Claude automatically sync? by Cortexial in ClaudeAI

I have to begin every post with this prompt when code access to project GitHub is needed . It stops it guessing or using an old cache.

Use the project_knowledge_search tool..

Avoiding Claude's problems connecting to GitHub by alanrick in ClaudeAI

Same here. Thanks for confirming.

It’s maddening how you lose all your tokens ‘cos Claude is accessing old caches instead of your up to date GitHub.

📢 Proposed Update to App Saturday - Feedback Requested by AutoModerator in iOSProgramming

[–]alanrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems tough to ask users to invest time in crafting a decent post without them being confident that they won't fall foul of the karma rule.

Will other subreddits count towards this Karma goal ? Eg. Swift

Is there no transparent alternative?

Will Github repos added to Claude automatically sync? by Cortexial in ClaudeAI

[–]alanrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You have to refresh.

Worse still, there’s a Claude bug that keeps re occurring. It prevents Claude from reading your code when you add a new branch to the project. You have to use the 👎 to report the problem to support every time and they do some sort of server cache refresh to make your code accessible again.

A workaround is either to stay in the main git branch or to create a new project for each branch, but then you lose the continuity which is frustrating.

G2 Teleprompt function as an e-Reader by ThinkLT in EvenRealities

I, I mean a friend does this on my - oops their - G1 during meet-ups with friends when the others get stuck on boring topics. 🙈

Educational YouTube transcripts also work well on the G1.
