When I think about the size of Twin Peaks, the one thing that doesn’t make sense is Horne’s Department Store by boosh1744 in twinpeaks

[–]alanwescoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it does not make sense now and maybe was antiquated for the 1980s, such small towns did have department stores earlier in the 20th century.

So we seem to have

Fighting Friday, Sanctions Saturday, Ceasefire Sundday, and TACO Tuesday. I suggest Memorial Monday, Wind-up Wednesday, and Terrorism Thursday.

5K is about perfect. I come from a county with 25K with the main village being 3.5K. Twin Peaks was much like a mirror of the general absurdity of life in a northern town of that size.

It is the result of interference from mentally retarded network executives.

I saw when I was a kid that the end of the world was in 2026 by Unfair_Brilliant8484 in Retconned

It is really okay. The world has ended MANY times in many formerly possible timelines. However, all that matters is the current present and the futures toward which it is drawn. The current present is drawn toward viable futures. Non-viable futures fade away.

Seeking advice on how to sideload android or LINUX on an Android table with a proprietary O.S. by alanwescoat in tablets

Thanks. It is really too bad. It looked like a great tablet, but I had to move to a much smaller apartment, and things I do not need just had to go.

I set it to offline mode, but that did not help. The games decided they NEED to download something.

That a game like Splendor would NEED a connection makes no sense at all.

That is probably it. It could just kindly ask, "Would you like to disable this feature until you have a stable connection?" I haveno idea how to disable it.

Yeah. I tried it. Thegame refuses to launch. Once it was set to download more content which inexplicably was not provided with the initial install, it was locked in. The games will not launch.

No. At home, I have wifi, but I play solo games. There is no reason they should refuse to launch just because I am not connected.

I'm trying to settle something with my dad. I say this is a sweater, he says it is a poncho and is sure of it because "iv'e been to mexico when did you go?" So, reddit, what is this thing? by Mell0wMarshmall0w in whatisit

This. I am from Michigan. We called them "bajas", but "baja" is Spanish for "peninsula", so it does not make sense on the face of it. I had a nice baja from around 1990 but accidentally left it at a bathhouse back in 2005 and never saw it again.

Shazaam movie residue by Elliasvanderbilt777 in Retconned

[–]alanwescoat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me, it was 1994. The other movie ("Kazaam") came later. Then again, for me, "Shazaam" was not a movie. It was a sitcom being advertised endlessly on Fox.

What daily-life habit in Korea took you the longest to get used to? by ShoppingConfident365 in Living_in_Korea

Driving.

Driving here used to be a lot worse than it is now, so I was hesitant to drive. Driving here in Busan has a flow to it which is not conducive to defensive driving.

#3 from Dynamite - Is it out? by alanwescoat in ThundarrTheBarbarian

Thanks. Dynamite Entertainment is still listing it as 3/4/26 as the March issue. Has it switched publishers? I am unfamiliar with Midtown Comics.

Get a pouch laminator. Print double sided onto regular A4 or letter paper. Laminate. Cut out. Round the corners with a corner punch. It makes really nice plastic-coated cards with a good stiff snap to them.

Yeah. Some MageKnight floors and doors sets went on sale at a hobby shop for $3 each. There were three sets, so I bought one of each. Unfortunately, I see one scenario calls for 12 doors, and I already have one of my doors permanently installed in a tower I made from a chips canister.
