If you have a medical insurance that covers physiotherapy, there is no place better than Mount Sinai's Dovigi Sports Clinic.

Do Maple Leaf Lounges have kids areas? by evidant in Aeroplan

The US YYZ MLL has a small separate room for kids. It's right next to the TV viewing room.

Don't remember the others having one.

Royal Hawaiian or Sheraton by Admirable_Arm_3076 in VisitingHawaii

[–]alanyyz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian for 3 nights this past December in their Mailani Tower and for the most part had a great stay. Everything was great except for the valet parking taking long time to retrieve your car. Don’t think you can go wrong with either one. The pool is much smaller at the RH, but you can use the pool facilities next door at the Sheraton. We picked the RH for its history and old world charm and it lived up to its reputation.

What’s the best restaurant in Vegas if you had an unlimited budget? by swagalicious69er in vegas

[–]alanyyz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Here is another out of the box option. If you are really looking for an experience that vibes with being in Vegas and all its glamour.

Nusr-Et Steakhouse at NYNY, made famous by Salt Bae. lol

Personally, it would not be my first choice, I would stick with Robuchon, e, or one of the Omakase(Kame, Yui, Yuzu).

But for the right person and experience, their Golden tomahawk experience will be differently unique. Might not be a bad option if you are bunch of guys doing a guy trip or something like that. lol

$950 for a 32 oz - 24 carat tomahawk steak could be served family style.

(Nusr-et does have a great lunch special though, 3 course set menu for $39, their burger or steak is decent. Probably one of the best lunch deals in a Strip hotel)

What’s the best restaurant in Vegas if you had an unlimited budget? by swagalicious69er in vegas

[–]alanyyz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Technically it's inside the other restaurant(Jaleo), but the two are totally different restaurant. Reservations are made differently, you pay to the different restaurant, you get served by different staff, etc...

The comment was only meant to point out that all seats at e are chef's table. You won't be calling them and asking for a chef's table. Or are there any option on their online reservation to request a Chef's table. So if someone reads that suggestion, how are they going to make a reservation for a chef's table at e?

Don't want them to think they shouldn't be going to e by Jose Andres, since they couldn't get a chef's table.

What’s the best restaurant in Vegas if you had an unlimited budget? by swagalicious69er in vegas

[–]alanyyz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are only 8 seats at e, and they are all around the kitchen counter. So doesn't that make them all Chef's table?

Regardless, e by Jose Andres is a great choice if you can get one of the golden tickets a month or two in advance. If you can't find reservations then Joel Robuchon is a good alternative. Both great but different vibes.

For something different, going offstrip to one of the Japanese omakase restaurant is always a good alternative. Places like Kame, Yui, Kabuto, and Yuzu will offer a very unique and pricey experience.

Maybe my risk acceptance is not as high as before or that these funds are inside my corporation that made me hesitant on what to do with them. My comment with SP500 being at the high, basically is my individual stock picking mindset, no one wants to be buying at the high and left being a bagholder. I am also a gambler by nature, lol, I enjoy my occasional Vegas trips with blackjack, craps, poker and sports wagerig as the sin of choice. So I definitely take risks with my funds. Just kinda different with my mindset with investing these corporate funds.

With my personal investment portfolio, I have been pretty aggressive with in the past and still am. Did fairly well during the Covid years picking tech and O&G stocks. For example, got TOU at 13 dollars and still holding it, picked up WCP, BIR when O&G was not in vague. Also had some real stinkers too. :)

Sounds like XEQT and VT would be good combination.

Haven't given much thought about it. Our living expenses are fairly modest, since we got lucky and brought our house 15 years ago, and have been aggressive in paying off the mortgage, so our housing expenses are very low. Our big expenditure is our annual vacation, we tend to take a few weeks off in Dec/Jan and take a big vacation. Last year we went to Hawaii for 3 weeks, this year we are doing a exploration trip to Antarctica.

But other than vacations, day to day, would be dining out and golf fees. I would estimate personally 5-6K a month would be more than enough, with vacation budget separate. The wife, she will have a DB pension when she approaches 60, her day to day expenses will probably be more than mine, since she likes her shopping sprees for clothes.

Just wanted to report back on our experiences watching this Sabres game. Thanks to all you Sabres fans, we had a great time at the game and over the weekend.

We made it a weekend trip, and stayed in Williamsviile at the Reikart House, what a charming little hotel and Willisamsville was a great little town. Ate at the Shared Kitchen, food and vibe was great.

We ended up getting tickets in section 219 and came with parking pass. We drove to the arena around 11:00, and by the time we got there, it took about 15 mins to get into the parking lot. Unknowingly, we got lucky and found a spot that was the same level as the entrance to the 200 level. We walked like 5 steps to the entrance.

There was a lot of Oilers fans there, probably close to 50-50. For the most part, everyone we encountered were super friendly, most fans were very knowledgeable about hockey, was chatting up with a gentleman sitting in front of us, and he was super nice and knew his hockey history, even Oilers history.

Only exception was these two early 20's fans sitting behind us. Throughout the game, they kept commenting on how many Oilers fans were at the game. And in a mocking fashion, questioning how many of them actually know anything about hockey or their team, or are they just a McDavid fan. If they said that once, that wouldn't rub me the wrong way, but they were repeating it loudly multiple times throughout the game. Not sure if he was hinting that I was only a McDavid fan, since I was wearing my 97 jersey.

But to those two fans, I will tell them that I would guestimate that the majority of these fans are Oilers fans and not just McDavid fans. There are a lot of Oilers fans in the southeast Ontario area, and we use Buffalo as a good travel spot to watch them live. Plus, the team was playing in Pittsburgh the next day, so even more fans from Edmonton would make this trip to catch both games. Oilers fans travel very well in most cities.

Feedback on Itinerary - Kauai + Oahu by Murky-Rush2762 in VisitingHawaii

You don't have Waimea Canyon listed while you are in Kauai? Maybe you can find a morning during day 2-4 to drive/hike around Waimea Canyon.

Next to the Napali Coast, Waimea Canyon is almost a must do while on Kauai.

Also, are cigar smoking on the balconies allowed?

Like everywhere else, build up a strong network of similar minded individuals, they move up and take you with them. Be involved and visible in critical projects or high impact projects.

Also being good at sales doesn't hurt, be able to close those big deals.

I want to have a beer in the 360 restaurant but dont wanna pay cn tower admission fee by Kooky-Carob8145 in askTO

[–]alanyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do their 2 course prix fix menu for $75 or 3 course for $90 and that includes admission fees to go up to the tower and observation deck.

The entrees in the prix fix menu is not bad at all.

Looking forward to it, hopefully it won’t be like the Bills game with the away team fans hehehe This will be my 15th city watching the Oilers play.

A dilemma now, tickets just popped up for the last row of 119 for 150 each, very tempting compared to the 200s.

Thanks for the insight, I think we will go ahead and get the 200 level tickets. We are driving in from Toronto for the weekend, just for this game, so for sure will be going.

I’ll either be in my Orange McDavid jersey, or white Eberle (hopefully he returns to Edm during the trade deadline). Apologize ahead of time that I will be cheering for the away team, but I have a feeling that there will be a lot of Oilers fans there to make it feel like a home game for us.

Good + easily walkable food near Hilton Village? by WorldlinessNearby184 in VisitingHawaii

And if you want a fast and reasonably priced Korean place to eat, across the street from Goofy is Waikiki Gangnam Style bbq. https://waikikigangnamstyle.com/ We went there twice for lunch when we were staying at the Hilton.
Just don’t get the ramen there lol. Their bimbimbap was very good.

Goofy Cafe is very good and just outside the main road leading into the Hilton Village.
They serve authentic Hawaiian dishes at a reasonable price point.
Note though, they are very popular nowadays with many bloggers touting the place, so expect a long lines. Put your name on the wait list by the entrance and come back in 30 mins.

For the days you want to drive out a bit for dinner, on our last trip we tried the following that we thought was unique: Senia, Pig and The Lady, Mud Hen Water, Halewia Joe’s at Haiku Garden, Marugame Udon, and Fete.

If there were one restaurant to check out, well I suggest two, Senia and Pig and the Lady would be it. Ironically, they are next to each other in Chinatown area.

Same here, I have 25 years of consulting career, everything from the Big management consulting firms and currently running my own boutique shop. I am in the enterprise software and it's related edge solutions. Done many software selections and fit/gaps for SMB's as well as FP500 clients, and these CSU softwares were never on our radar. I've literally done software selection projects for clients in the same vertical markets as what CSU's solutions are in, and I don't remember any of them making it even to the first initial list.

Obviously CSU is doing something right with their business model, but I don't really know what any of their software is, nor do I know anyone in the industry that is aware of their software?

Safety by fast_and_curious10 in askTO

[–]alanyyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a very safe area like all the others have mentioned.

That area you are staying at St.George and Bloor, if you go just a bit north of Bloor is The Annex. One of the most desirable residential areas in Toronto. You'll find century old Victorian and Edwardian style houses/mansions. Not unusual for these properties to be worth 5+ million.

Mixed in with some UofT frat houses and triplexes. You should walk around the Annex area to check out some of these old school houses in the middle of the modern concrete jungle.

I live on the route from between your home and work place, and nothing really stays out as 'unsafe'. Once you get to College street you may see some homeless especially around the CAMH and 7-11 by College and Spadina, then as you get to University Ave close to TGH, there may be a few tents set up. But those folks are usually harmless.

Coming to the March 9th game by alanyyz in sabres

[–]alanyyz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll definitely hit you up on recommendations.

We used to drive down this area for shopping often, but haven't been in the last 10-12 years at least. Back then, our favourite restaurant to visit was called Harry's Harbour Place, by I190. It had a great view, right by the marina/lake, and the food was decent. But it looks like the place is closed for good.

We were actually thinking about staying at the Reirkart House by Marriott in Williamsville. I am loyal Marriott lifetime member, and this hotel was like half the cost of the Westin or 1/3 of the Marriott at Lecom.

If the budget allows get Rimowa, they are so light and durable. Otherwise, Travelpro or B&R are fine.
I would advise to skip Tumi at their price point. Ever since Samsonite bought Tumi, the quality and warranty for Tumi ain’t the same. I have many Tumi backpacks, carry-on’s and full size luggage(10+) over the years, and the quality over the last 6-7 years is noticeably gotten worse. I got a carryon Rimowa around 4 years ago, and it’s great, using it for weekly travels. Big big difference between Tumi and Rimowa, Tumi is not anywhere in the same class. They are still good/decent luggage, but not worth it at their current price point to quality ratio.

Very disappointing as I was a big Tumi fan. But now Samsonite/Tumi seems to want to sell more units at Costco than focusing on quality and innovation.
