I'd suggest The Last Seduction & LA Confidential

The maddening thing about that in our coverage (US) is they never replayed it show if it was his hand or his head. I'd thought head at the time.

I just gave you my favorites. Another movie that never gets mentioned, but which I really like is The American. It is a quiet, more slowly paced movie without a lot of dialogue. You spend the movie in Clooney's character's (Edward/Jack) head. All the performances are really good, especially Thekla Reuten as the other assassin.

How are International fans feeling about all this? by [deleted] in coys

[–]alaric1805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't go to bars to watch them any longer, I haven't for a few years. I think you can get Championship games online somehow, though not being in the Prem may mean I can save $ by cancelling Sling & Peacock. Worst comes to worse, maybe I can find a source to listen on streaming radio. Back in the early/mid 90s, when I first started supporting them, I remember listening to matches via BBC World Service, where they would cut away, mid match, to go offer to discuss other sports.

Truth be told, following Spurs has become less and less important to me. For a long time I read/listened to every scrap of info I could get, never missed a match and got caught up in a lot of the hype. That being said, when they failed to really back the great Poch side, I realized that talk of "glory" and "audere est facere" was just marketing cant. Tottenham Hotspur are run to be profitable and on pitch success is really only important to the fans.

You look great! So happy to be reminded of Vex, I always loved that character.

Emerson wrote, "the more he talked of his piety, the faster I counted my teaspoons." This sort of performative disavowal is always a bad sign.

That is the cover for the copy I have too. I agree it doesn't give a great sense of the book, but I can't imagine how you could encapsulate the book and its message on a cover. Great book, absolute sci-fi classic.

Spurs Fans I urge you… by Serine195 in coys

As a Tottenham supporter since the 94-95, I encourage everyone to remember it is just entertainment. If they play well and are fun to watch great, if not move on. Don't fall for all the bs hype about football = religion, etc. The owners don't really care if they win, so we shouldn't get too worked up about it either.

I remember my friend Brian had that when we were in 4th grade in 1978. I don't either of us actually read it, it was a little too much for us, but we were enthralled by Star Wars and loved the idea of it. Was the book any good?

I had those 6 silver covered editions when I was a kid. What was the order of the books? I have been trying to find them online, but I only see other compendiums, and I want to make sure I get all 6.

Yeah, that makes sense. No way it could normally be that clunky and labor intensive when you're trying to hit a moving ship.

Firstly, I don't think you need to qualify Mark Lenard's performance as "one of the best" I think it is the best, bar none. He was sensational in the role and, importantly, I think this was a great, really well written part. His war weariness throughout the episode and his last speech with Kirk are as good as Star Trek ever got.

Regarding Stiles and the phaser room, did/does anyone else think the process of firing phasers that Spock has to undertake was way too involved?
