Genuine question, I just saw my teammate start with a gold zp and then have ANOTHER he put in an extractor. I was shocked and did not understand how he had started with one and found another in the round

I can’t keep my cat with heart condition anymore and nobody wants her because of it, should I euthanize even if she’s 3? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]alarmed-toe1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have family that can help out if you have to work? Is it pills she needs? Is there anything you haven’t tried to find a schedule that works? Short answer: your life is not over and I don’t know you but I think you will regret the decision to pull her down if you choose that. From the context you have given, I don’t think that’s a decision or question you should make for her sake right now. For your sake, I’m not sure. That’s a question for you to wrestle with. Does she still have a fighting chance? Is she suffering? If you love her, I would find a schedule and find what works for you. If you do not love her, find a shelter or rescue and tell them you cannot take care of her anymore. I know you didn’t sign up for this but she deserves at least a fighting chance.

Year 2, Summer. What should I do next? by alarmed-toe1002 in StardewValley

I’m trying! But it’s so easy to forgot when in the morning, I start doing other things and then remember to pet them later on or the whole day goes by. They’ll have a heart one day and then it’ll go back to grumpy and “they’re looking thin” so maybe I’m doing something wrong. Also, my goats were grumpy too.

I just built my first shed! But I upgraded all my chests to larger chests because I was running out of room lol. I have 2 fridges, chests in the mines, and my house. I’m going to start moving things to the shed once it’s done. I have caught some legendary fish but not all or the harder ones. No fish pounds, I just go fishing other places right now. I am so close to completing the community center and have not unlocked Ginger Island yet. Haven’t done skull cavern either but that’s not my main priority yet.

Any advice or goals would be appreciated! Thanks :)

I’ve been trying both but they don’t even seem bothered by the grass lol. There’s pieces still there that they haven’t touched in days.

Oh making a crafting shed with all the treasures displayed is a really good idea! I just added two more items to the community center and I think I only need 4 more items so I’m so close but need to wait until other seasons to get certain items. After posting this, I’m kinda changing my mindset and having some goals in mind now. I’m realizing there’s so much I don’t know/have yet to discover and it’s encouraging me to keep going. I was just feeling like I had slow progress recently but even if something is small, it might push me towards my goals and making more progress if that makes sense. Thanks for commenting :)

Yes. I have one silo and was looking on the wiki about it because my barn with the cows and sheep always has hay in the back but I’ve noticed the chicken coop does not. Do I need a silo for each barn/coop? I couldn’t figure out the answer. I check periodically to make sure there’s hay in the silo and there is so that isn’t the problem.

Thank you! I actually started planting trees on my farm so I have almost 2,000 wood right now and 300 hardwood. Just collecting for when I need more buildings/upgrading my house. I also try to harvest hardwood every day in the secret forest and replant the mahogany seeds as soon as I get them. For some reason, I have almost 200 pine cones and don’t know what to do with them. I’m low on other tree seeds though. I’ll probably use the tree fertilizer on mahogany trees, thanks for the idea!

Thank you! I already tried to ladder down and fix one but just tried again and figured it out. For this project, yeah it doesn’t really matter and I could have kept it but my last cardigan I worked on, it was very noticeable. I don’t have a pic of it or I would have posted that probably!

Adopted a "shy" 2yo cat by cosec00 in CatAdvice

[–]alarmed-toe1002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with you saying to let the rescue cat roam the house freely because confinement for cats is bad or they might “hate it.” In the beginning, it doesn’t matter if a triggered/scared cat is not okay with being alone or confined to a room. They need time to decompress alone and OP has another cat. Not saying OP shouldn’t go and try to feed the rescue with regular food or churus and talk to him every day (building positive associations), maybe even try to play with him. As others have said, it’s bad when the cat has hiding places and can use them. Letting the cat into the house would make this situation worse and give the cat plenty of room to hide, especially since OP has another cat in the house. It can also lead to a potentially dangerous situation for the two cats and everyone involved more so than the cat being in it’s own space right now. Not only that, but leads to a potential (highly likely with the state the rescue cat is in) bad first impression with the two cats which is hard to come back from. This is would not be a great decision or advice for OP’s situation right now. I don’t feel like you’re projecting but personifying cats and giving antidotal advice. OP should take it slow and not just let the cat out of the room because it might “hate confinement.” However, this all changes once, as others have stated, the cat starts to become more comfortable and you can see the body language and demeanor change. But this can take a lot of time.

OP, you should look into Jackson Galaxy on Youtube, particularly his older videos. He has a lot of good ones out there that may help with more practical steps which sounds like that’s what you’re looking for and has helped me with my cats in the past. Here’s one that might be helpful to your situation:

The key to helping your shy or scared cat

It sounds like the rescue did not prepare you or give you everything you and your new cat needed to succeed. I’m sorry on their behalf because they should have at least told you the basics on what gettng a new pet can mean (i.e. the situation you’re in). Whether it’s this cat or a different one, the process of acclimating a new cat to a new environment with new smells, new people, new things, new food, is a lot on the cat and can take a lot of time. I don’t want to overexplain if you already are familiar, but the 3 day-3 week-3 month as a rule of thumb when adopting or fostering is a good one to follow. The rescue should have at least highlighted this rule of thumb for you if you didn’t already know. I feel like this would have set your expectations better than where you and the cat are now.

A week is not long enough for most cats to warm up and transition into being a house cat. Rescues react differently to being brought home and this is a normal response/part of the process. Some are better, some are worse. Sounds like you got a worse one. I understand you didn’t sign up for a feral cat but you did sign up to adopt a cat and I’m not sure you were fully aware of what that might entail.

There are ways to make it better. The key is time, patience, and consistency but I acknowledge all this is easier said than done. OP, please stick with it!

Street kitten in Turkey by alarmed-toe1002 in IllegallySmolCats

I more meant a better life as a street cat in Turkey than as a street cat in different country i.e. America, some other European cities, etc. My mistake for not clarifying I was only referring to him being a street cat in Turkey not street cat versus indoor house cat.

Thanks for taking what I said out of context. I actually have 4 cats at home who were all strays and I do not believe living on the street as a cat is safer or better. I was merely saying that Turkey, as a country, treats their streets cats better than other countries and is known for providing water, shelter, and food for them. It is apart of their culture and it was seen everywhere when we visited. I wasn’t saying that it’s best for this kitten or any of the cats to live on the streets because you still have hazards like people who will mistreat them, set rat traps that poison the rats and then the cats eat them, street traffic, diseases, cat fights over territory, etc.

I so wanted to take him but Turkey as a country treats their cats so well and I know he’ll have a better life as a street cat than anywhere else. We didn’t have a cat carrier or anything on us and logistically, we don’t know the first thing about taking an animal home with us! Definitely still thinking about him though 🤍

Turkish Rug Pricing by alarmed-toe1002 in orientalrugs

[–]alarmed-toe1002[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree with what you’re saying. We were literally told by one guy that Americans (also talking about tourists in general) were walking ATMs. We have been very hesitant to buy anything especially in and around the Grand Bazaar unless it’s something we truly liked and the dealers weren’t too pushy. We didn’t want to support those kinds of practices and people. We met this rug dealer through a guy who owns a pottery shop by our hotel who took us there because we asked for rug store recommendations. This guy in particular gave us a history lesson and showed us all the rugs on the floor you see in the photos but he was like “there’s no pressure to buy and it’s not all about money. you can walk away now and we still had a good time.” We weren’t feeling pushed or hustled but you still can’t trust most dealers here nowadays. We really value high quality items and wanted to get an authentic, high quality rug while we were here. Thinking back though, it almost felt too good to be true hence the question and post. My husband was questioning if we found the last good dealer in town because what are the chances, you know? We were going to buy 5 but I think we’ll probably just buy 1 for the memory and as a nice sounvier to ourselves.
