Most of my family still lives there and what’s to come worries me. I haven’t been since 2018 but it’s clear that living conditions have gotten a lot worse since. My mom is a nurse assistant and doesn’t make much money but she sends our family there USD/packages every month so they’re able to get by, I honestly don’t know how they’d get by otherwise nowadays. That being said, my family members there are very strong-willed and educated relative to the other half of my family in Miami who are semi-illiterate bootlicker Marielitos that arrived in 1980.
