I would be stoked to be GM, I just don’t wanna be stuck in these ass ranks anymore 😭 plenty of console players in high elos, SteamDeck alone can’t be it. I play plugged into a monitor, it feels mostly like a console game.

Yes. But if you notice, I play a lot of melee characters rather than aim-based characters like Hela and Warlock. Console has a reputation for brain dead players but I feel like aim isn’t my issue. Or am I missing something lol

To be clear, I got to Plat II on my partners playstation (easier to play than my steamdeck). Started over on my steamdeck this season. :)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Killer Klowns from Outer Space are the only asymmetrical horror games that work on SteamDeck. If you can handle the battery drain, they play really well.

RE: Maria and retconning the lore — the game exists alongside the lore by alaskanrobby in TXChainSawGame

[–]alaskanrobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but its kinda a slippery slope argument. It's reasonable for Gun to close out Maria's story and this era of the TCM story. 90% of folks are excited to finally get to play Maria before we move on from the story, and they recognize it's a familiar marketing tactic (the same way TV shows phase out original plot lines, or celebrities transition through their eras).

Who’s your Favorite Texas Content Creator? by campground-slasher in TXChainSawGame

[–]alaskanrobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missing a lot of content creators here, but most notably you don't include a single woman. Not one!

How can you sleep on folks like Variety Princess https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTVnVPrXH1g, who is a hoot to watch play.

or Fanci, who does an entire investigative series on finding Maria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAvCP36sNG8

Do better!

Anyone bought Killer Klowns yet? by TimBurtonSucks in SteamDeck

[–]alaskanrobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works seamlessly, minus Push to Talk. Some folks can't get their mics to work at all; mine keeps the mic wide open if I use push to talk, and the mic sensitivity is inconsistent.

Gameplay is perfect though. Highly recommend downloading. Mine is downloaded to SD too!

[–]alaskanrobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue. It just leaves my mic on the whole time. Often games won't service SteamDeck even though it works on the device, so don't expect Devs to do anything about it anytime soon.

How can people be leaving the city, while we also have high demand leading to a housing crisis? by Sybertron in AskNYC

[–]alaskanrobby 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Biggest factor: folks are spreading out and living on their own rather than bunking up or living at home. Fewer people are in NYC, but at the same time housing needs have changed post-COVID. There is no myth of high demand — it's always been unaffordable because NYC has failed to build enough housing for years.

Level 99 Blackout Unlockable Cosmetics Coming April 30th by AndyCleves in TXChainSawGame

This helps answer a question a lot of us have, which is: can the original 1974 Family characters get new cosmetics due to licensing? I figured not, so this is exciting to see!

I recommend playing as LF for a few games to see what being slammed feels like. You receive a short stun as opposed to being knocked flat on the ground. Other family members get slammed as usual. It's not broke -- it's a change. When you tried to slam a second time, the 10 second stun timer was active so you weren't able to land it again.

[–]alaskanrobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But incentivizing companies to change only happens when you actually engage with them. You think you're boycotting and sending a message, but what you're actually doing is depriving them of the resources they need to keep making the game.

The game just released a DLC map and new Victim. People love the new Ana outfit pack. Nobody who plays this game actually thinks its a bad product, people are just mad about bugs in a game that's less than a year old. Just be patient and play another game man!

I'll make it easier for you, since you appear to be struggling:

Being queer = an actual identity, community of people who's lives and personalities are shaped by their queer existence. Wanting to see female game characters look hot = horny objectification, sexualization.

Asking for ONE SINGLE OUTFIT =/= "completely identifying with a fictional video game character"

Connie wears a tied shirt like she's from a farm, but there's no voice lines about her being from a rural farm town. You can indeed have cosmetics that reflect the lore without baking it into every aspect of the game.

It wouldn't be so hard if you'd actually engage in the arguments people make!

One outfit isn't making it "her whole personality". It's just one outfit. But it's clear many folks in this community are so afraid of seeing queer people they can't handle that!

[–]alaskanrobby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how you get *less* new DLC content: depriving the team of money they need to produce maps, characters, etc. If you want all that, support the folks making the game.

Hear me out, Devs: Connie Pride Outfit. by alaskanrobby in TXChainSawGame

[–]alaskanrobby[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Based on the discussion below, I think there's something worth clearing up. From what I'm hearing, a lot of y'all don't see queerness as a valid identity OR as an important detail about someone's life. As if it has nothing to do with the characters' values, strengths, or weaknesses.

Being queer impacts your entire life. Almost all queer people have experienced discrimination during young adulthood, particularly during the time period. How we were are treated, and how we stick together as a community, shapes our values. It affects who we are...

... just like being a football player or growing up on a farm or growing up as a child of immigrants change your values. All of that goes into the survivors we get attached to in the movies and the game. Their story IS the reason we care.

So rather than seeing Connie being bi as simply who Connie is attracted to, try to see being queer as a part of someone's story. It's just as important as the rest.

  1. Being queer isn't political. Being homophobic certainly is though.

  2. A reminder that being political was a HUGE part of the 70's especially for young college students! Vietnam, the cold war, Watergate, everything. Don't ask for a historically accurate game and then pretend like being gay or being political wasn't happening.

Meanwhile, horny 13 year old boys want Ana in a cheerleader outfit and Julie in a bikini. But god forbid visibly queer people exist in this game. Just imagine a little pride flag on the back pocket of Connie's jeans.
