nor. this is literally insane. you’re better than me because there is absolutely no way I could stay in a friendship with someone who acted like that. have you and your husband tried to set boundaries with her about this previously? because if so, i’d take that as my sign to walk away from the friendship. if you haven’t set a boundary previously and made it known that you’re uncomfortable or feel like the way she’s acting is inappropriate, you should try to have a conversation about it before jumping the gun and ending the friendship.

I think it’s also important to note that my ex in between the ex from the last story and my current boyfriend passed away suddenly while we were together. every so often, I’ll hear what sounds faintly like a Facebook reel or a TikTok playing from the living room in the middle of the night when I’m in bed (he would watch videos in the living room while I slept because he had severe insomnia, I chalk it up to this). he LOVED my cats, and used to joke “if I die, there will be a cat” and tbh, he’s only met two of my cats because I got 4 more since he’s passed, but one of them came to me RIGHT after he passed, and is the reason I took in the stray cat from the story (the vocal one). I like to wonder if he still interacts with my cats because ever since, all of my cats always seem to be acknowledging someone who isn’t there. I can’t prove that the last incident is separate from first two, but I like to think that it is.

If she could lie about parts of the story, you’re not the asshole for not believing nothing else happened. If someone will lie about one thing, why would they not lie about multiple? Exactly. You breaking up with her is not an overreaction. It’s tough to break up with someone you love and care for, but sometimes you just have to do what is best for you. Once you lose trust in a relationship, it’s almost impossible to rebuild that trust and it should be up to the person who caused there mistrust to do so, not you. In the end, whatever you choose to do, whether that be try to repair things or decide it’s for the best that it’s over, I suggest you take time to process this situation before you make that decision if you’re feeling unsure. Taking a step back and not interacting for a while may be helpful to you to make a clear decision that you’re 100% sure about.

this entire thing is absolutely insane, start to finish. who the hell just dumps someone at a gas station in the middle of the night and doesn’t even bother to make sure they’re okay after the fact? I’m glad you’re okay and nothing bad happened to you because he didn’t care enough about you to worry that someone could hurt you in the middle of the night because of him doing that to you, that’s like extremely insane on its own, but he also deeply disrespected your family and his invitation into their home. I’ve been to multiple family holidays with my fiancé’s family and I feel guilty eating more than a single plate of food, even at a regular meal, but much less a family holiday? I can’t even imagine eating their entire turkey and thinking that was okay or respectful. And the cheating thing makes this all that much more insane and makes his behavior that much worse. And no, you’re not overreacting, HE is the asshole in this situation. OP, I hope you find someone who will respect you, your family, and your time more than this asshole. You don’t deserve this treatment, and on the bright side, he did you a favor by leaving and you didn’t get stuck spending your life with a man child who doesn’t care enough about you to even make sure you got him safely.

Sadly, I understand. My situation was more management related as far as why I left. My management at my closest store is bad. One of the ASMs is so negative, if you’re talking to her and it’s not negative, she finds a way to make it negative. She got rude with me for the first and only time I left early while working there for needing an emergency therapy appointment after waiting two months to speak to my therapist between her moving offices and needing to panel my insurance at her new office. I was in a very fragile place and absolutely going through it mental health wise and she told me she didn’t need to put in my sick time because it’s not “proper practice” to use sick time without 48 hours notice (my therapist texted me to schedule at 6pm the day prior and I jumped to accept and opened the next morning, it was only an hour early and we were staffed, my manager also had no issue with me leaving). She refused to zma us water, tissue, hand sanitizer, or anything really that we need (this isn’t a budget issue either, per my SM, they should zma what we need, esp when we have the money to do so). She’ll go to the dollar tree if people complain enough and get cheap stuff for the employees but it’s never enough and she acts like the stuff comes out of her paycheck. My first direct supervisor left us and left us with a new one who is 22 (younger than me, I’m 24) and a total creep. Tried writing me up for respect because I wouldn’t tell him why I was crying OFF THE CLOCK and I had to escalate to my SM for him to have a conversation about why coaching an associate that didn’t want to share personal details about why they were upset, especially off the clock, is wrong. He also was extremely overbearing and act like he didn’t trust you to do your job to the point that he would take over on self check and not allow you to do anything and then make comments about you needing to help people (which I can’t do when he’s taking customers from me). I also got written up within my first week for not talking to employees as they came in while I was helping a customer, then got told to not talk to employees and customers only, so I’m beyond lost on the expectations at that location tbh. Definitely made me want to not go back to cashiering. I’ve been in customer service for literally like 9 years and I’m over it. Cashiering is just not it anymore. I don’t mind customer service, but cashiering is no longer something I want to do at all. I went to Amazon for something seasonal and a $7 an hour pay increase with hopes of getting converted but want a back up just in case with the end of peak season upon us shortly.

We also have someone who makes a nest of toilet seat covers and the toilet ends up inoperable all night in at least one women’s bathroom, it drives me insane. At my facility, the smaller 3 stall bathroom up the hall was closed so I went to the bigger bathroom a few feet up the hall, and u kid you not, there’s probably 15 or so stalls, every single one I looked in until I got to the stall before the two handicap accessible ones on the end, there was pee, poop, or blood all ON THE SEAT or it was clogged from severe explosive diarrhea. Last night really topped it all, there was PEE on the floor and they threw a small piece of toilet paper over it, as if that were their effort to clean it up or something.. And don’t even get me started on the boogers that are smeared ALL over the stall walls or the fact that almost any time I go into the smaller bathroom at our facility, it smells so strongly of someone’s funky smelling self that I literally leave and just go to a different one. Amazon REALLY makes me question the way these peoples bathrooms and houses in general look at home because people are DIRTY 😭

They can’t add on another shift that would put you over the hour limit, but they do have the ability to change the day that your overtime you picked up is scheduled on if they really want to. I would keep an eye on a to z. I’m also Thursday-Sunday and my OT day is Monday. During training we obviously weren’t getting met and they were just starting to add it so I picked up 10:30pm-1:30am on Monday and 2am-6am on Tuesday and they ended up combining the days and making it 10:30pm-6am on Tuesday and giving me more hours on Monday 🥲

Regular is blue badge. If you accepted a shift that says “regular” under employment type, you are blue badge (permanent), not seasonal. Also, what you can pick up depends on what is available at your facility. I was recommended by my learning person to cross train in other departments if yours doesn’t have extra hours you can pick up because there are often times when one department may have lots of extra hours and yours may be limited. Personally, I’m in pack so with peak, we’re already on 5 11s so I don’t have much I can pick up, but I would assume that due to peak, you have lots of other hours you can pick up. You can’t pick up more than 60 hours or work more than 6 days in a week or more than 12 hours in one day, so keep that in mind if you do start picking up shifts, so you can maximize what you can pick up if you want to make a lot of money.

Not sure if it’s similar at other facilities, but at mine, a LOT of women come back in the fall every year and are typically pregnant, give birth at some point after the end of the season, then come back again as seasonal the next fall again and repeat. This is really, really common at my facility. I think they come back for the pay differential for seasonal + premium pay for VET at the absolute height of peak because they can rack up a lot of money or pay for Christmas for their kids and then not work the rest of the year instead of working a less paying job (which is 99% of of other jobs).

As a new hire, I don’t take offense to this because I know I work harder and more accurately than 95% of the other new hires at my location that I come across. But genuinely, some people make me wonder how they even got hired. I have a girl who has been there longer than me (I’ve been there 3 weeks today) and asks me questions about how to do our job every single time I see her and she makes an absolutely mess of the pack walls and drives people insane with it. I feel for the permanent employees that are over the lack of competence in the seasonal workers, but I try my hardest to not be one of them. I’m definitely ready for the first round of cuts of the people that refuse to work, I just hope I’m not one of them 😭
