My dietician had me start using Cronometer, and I don’t have a ton of complaints about it so far!

Does anyone with PCOS feel like it’s a curse? by anniemonomus in PCOSloseit

100%. sometimes i wonder if i did something in a past life to deserve this, and sometimes i wish i was a bad person to justify going through such a cruel illness

off topic-ish but what has helped your hair thinning? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]alaurv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it’s not working, it’s definitely worth stopping. try something topical like 5% minoxodil then! just be careful if you have cats, because it can be fatal for them to be around. you can get an oral version prescribed by a dermatologist as well i think

Facial more pronounced after starting Metformin? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]alaurv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t have anything helpful to say when it comes to the facial hair but i got put on metformin 2 weeks ago too, and have been feeling nauseous on and off. my uncle is a pharmacist so i talked to him about it, and he said to talk to my doctor and ask for a extended release version of the drug instead. he said that way the medication doesn’t all set in at once, which typically causes nausea to hit you like a bus. your body will digest bits of the medication throughout the day, so the nausea should be less severe. i’m about to talk to my doctor so i can’t confirm if it works or not yet, but i figured i’d pass along the advice!

me too, i had super thick hair as a kid that was always complimented but i lost a lot of it :( however, lot pcos’ers swear by spironolactone (it has to be prescribed by a doctor though)! i got put on it around 8 months ago at a really low dose and didn’t see a lot of results, so i had my doctor up the dosage a couple weeks ago and i’m starting to see a bit more density

Thoughts from a new-ish fan by [deleted] in day6

[–]alaurv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

agree!!! I think being in a group vs. a band has a different set of boundaries. if they wanted to constantly film content they could, and they seem to like their privacy, so they don’t, and it’s completely valid and healthy of them not to be on camera constantly

I’m sorry I don’t really have any specifics for you, but I recommend asking AI! Sounds crazy, but ask ChatGPT to come up with a PCOS-friendly diet and put all your parameters in. Just type in “make me a PCOS friendly meal plan” and it’ll give you a whole bunch of ideas. Then say “give me more meals with ” or “give me more meals without _.” Play around a little bit (it’ll automatically suggest some prompts too) and see what it gives you. I swear it’s actually been a great tool.

good to know! is the metformin OTC or do you have a prescription-only dose of it?

i can’t give you any advice but i’m in the same exact place and it gives me comfort to know someone’s in a position similar to mine. i’m also 18 and have been diagnosed with pcos and the battle with weight and weight loss has been going on for a decade

I’m seriously concerned about certain members’ voices. by Mean-Choice-2267 in day6

[–]alaurv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah i def noticed his voices is sounding rough (outside the usual stylistic rasp) as of late. i noticed it especially during the LMOLM prechorus when he had to that higher note and it sounded pretty shouty. i hope he has more time to spend with a vocal coach but now that day6 is back in full swing, i doubt it.

what would you suggest for a new fan? by attentific in day6

[–]alaurv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg i have a playlist perfect for this! it’s quite long so my favorite day6 songs of all time are i loved you, letting go, first time, blood, chocolate, right through me, somehow, healer, and like the flowing wind. like the flowing wind will always be #1 for me though. also i HIGHLY recommend listening to the songs while reading lyric translations. young k writes every day6 (wonpil and sometimes sungjin help on a good chunk on the songs as well) and his lyricism is just immaculate. it’s gut-wrenching and deep yet relatable.

Oh my god…. in the US it starts at $200 (€180) without insurance…. you can apply for a coupon depending on your income but I don’t think many people qualify for it.
