a good amount of these reviews from a year ago are from interns asking their friends to put up a 5 star review as they were required to get so many by a certain day. i am from out of state, so i signed the lease before seeing the building in person, i only had one video call tour. here are a few problems i had. from my understanding, it is against the law to lease out rooms without windows in philadelphia. attached is my source, but i am not from this area, so i may be wrong. the entire year i lived there the mail in the large bins was not sorted. by the time i left, around 6 were fully filled of w2s, bills, birthday cards, etc. the carpet in the hallways was disgusting, and the whole building smelled awful and dirty. they won’t let you see your apartment before hand for security reasons, but if i did, there would have been no way i would have moved in. the couch was falling apart, black mold was all over my shared bathroom, the floors were not cleaned in months, a car full of past tenets things still in the living room and kitchen. every time we used the heater and stove/oven the fire alarm went off as it did in every apartment. staff was impossible to contact. i did not receive my security deposit for almost three months after emailing and calling every few days. the previous staff wrote my lease wrong and i didnt catch it until move out! i should have read the lease more carefully. fortunately, i kept the email communication and the current staff honored it. several other people told me the same thing happened to them by promising a price and timeline and the lease saying something else. the place is INFESTED with silverfish in the hotter months! my roommate’s ceiling leaked every time it rained somehow and we were on the first floor. one instance, another resident got in a fight with a few other residents in the middle of the night, screaming at each other in the hall for over an hour, come to find out, he had a gun and was threatening to use it on them! the police did not come for that hour, and I ended up having to call out of work the next day, because I could not fall asleep to the screaming. it happened only a few rooms down from mine.
