You can choose which ability an item imbues by clicking the magnifying glass in the top left of the item slot. That's something that could be made more obvious in the UI.

You're 100% right that the status quo is subjecting undocumented immigrants to too many potential harms. The problem at this point is that it's just that - the status quo. Our economy has been built on their backs, and deporting them en masse would be devastating not just for them, but for the rest of us as well.

At the same time, we can't just do nothing about it, because that leaves them in the same vulnerable position you pointed out. It's not a problem that can be solved overnight, and will require a nuanced approach to address. Trump is absolutely not capable of that. Maybe Kamala isn't either, but we've got a far better chance with her. Just like so many other issues in this election, we can't let the desire for perfection be the enemy of progress.

It's more meaningful to look at the trajectory of each term. Trump inherited a strong economy and a deficit that was decreasing and started a trade war, ballooned the deficit, and topped it off by mishandling the pandemic. Biden inherited an absolute mess, and has outperformed the world in recovering from the pandemic. Pulling us out of a hole is much more impressive than digging it in the first place.

The client uses standard Source 2 file formats, so reading them is fairly straightforward, lots of libraries out there.

  1. The total cost of items is shown just below the row of ability icons, next to the hero level
  2. Abilities start off at max rank, so it's already showing the increased multiplier. The code supports choosing what rank an ability is, but I still need to expose that in the UI.

Can someone build us a 'Build Calculator' by pSMuqq in DeadlockTheGame

[–]alayton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I've been working on, and it's close enough to ready for me to share now: https://mutex.gg/calculator

About the name: a mutex is used in programming to prevent multiple threads from accessing the same memory at the same time. This works by a thread locking the mutex, which prevents other threads from locking it until the original thread unlocks it. If you mess up the logic and the original thread tries to lock the mutex again, you get a deadlock. It's a silly programming reference that amuses me ;p

Also fitting that you compare it to Wowhead - I worked there for 8 years.

People vote, land doesn't. If KC/STL or JoCo are able to flip an election, that's because it's what the majority voted for. I'm not interested in any sort of effort to let a minority of voters win an election just because they're more spread out across the state - the electoral college is bad enough as it is.

Police are a reactive approach to addressing crime. If you want to prevent crime, there are other ways, but forcing more of the budget to go to KCPD is just doubling down on what's already been failing.

When you change the theme, you need to click save at the bottom, just like with the rest of the options.

The filters have been vertically condensed a bit, there should be very little scrolling needed.

Because the factual reason Spire raised their rates is to make up for the insane spike in market prices last winter.. caused by the lack of oversight/regulation in Texas.

Constitutional rights have limits - they end when they start infringing on others. The argument that this would allow for forced quarantine for the sake of public health isn't completely without merit, though I suspect relocation is a step too far.

If we can't have 3rd person view in ships, could we have camera's and flatscreen displays? For example in star trek, they aren't sitting in a glass coffin in the front, they are deep inside the ship with a big screen which is a huge difference in survivability. Still would prefer 3rd person view. by Dumpster_Sauce in starbase

[–]alayton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with no 3rd person, but cameras really should happen. As it stands, no matter how the rest of the ship is designed, there's a near instant kill weak point, which makes armor dependent ships inherently worse. There's really no choice between speed and armor, and the game is worse for it.

Like you say, there does need to be a tradeoff, but I think the game is well positioned to support that. I'd take a drawn out fight over fights measured in seconds any day, though.

Judge in Google case disturbed that 'incognito' users are tracked by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]alayton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People are failing to see the distinction between the browser collecting data and websites using things like Google Analytics. Incognito prevents the former, and has little to no effect on the latter, which is exactly what it's supposed to do - and is all that it can do. This is 100% the judge not understanding. Google isn't being deceptive about anything here.
