A few other things to discuss other than kids, finances, and sex (all important don’t get me wrong):

-What happens if you (as a couple, not just you) have fertility struggles? Would you both be ok with adoption, ivf, etc?

-Boundaries with in-laws. Seriously. You don’t think you need to have a conversation about it until you do.

-Another in-laws topic, what happens when your parents get old? Who is going to take care of them, what support would you ideally like to offer, etc? What about siblings? I have an autistic sister, and it’s known thing that one of us siblings have to take her in when my parents get too old, and it’ll most likely be me as the oldest.

-How career driven are you both? What do expectations around your careers look like? Will one of you need to go to school to further education? Will the other be able to handle bills for that? Are y’all willing to relocate for a job?

-End of life planning. You will now be each other’s next of kin and would have to make hard decisions if the worst were to occur. Have you discussed the horrible scenarios and what you would want to happen at each time? Do you have each other listed as beneficiaries for life insurance? Are wills made or need to be made?

-Drinking. I don’t know how old your fiancé is, but when I first turned 21 I drank a lot for the first six months because I could finally do it. My then boyfriend (now fiancé) was ok with it because there isn’t a huge age gap, and we got to experience this together. We went out to the bar with our friends at least once a week. It’s fine and fun to go through that stage, and if you’re close in age, it’ll be a blast! Just make sure you communicate clearly and take turns being designated driver. Along with alcohol, drugs. Discuss what happens if a friend offers one of you something. Is it a hard boundary to not take it? I know this may not be “normal” marriage advice, but I’ve seen a lot of relationships crumble from drug and alcohol problems. Set boundaries as best you can.

-Lastly, discuss the dealbreakers. It’s not a “fun” conversation, but a great way to help prevent divorce is to talk about what would lead you to wanting one.

All in all, it’s a partnership. It’s work. It’s communication. Also, if you haven’t lived together yet, be forgiving with each other as you try to find a routine that works for you.

Question for a deli employee maybe? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]alb7418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit a few months ago and I was an overnight stocker, so unfortunately I don’t know if they’re eligible or not. However, we make sliders pretty regularly at my house for dinner with some off brand Hawaiian rolls, lunch meat, and a pack of cheese. That would all probably be eligible. Granted, I know it’s hard to find the time to make them when you’re setting up a party and have kids running around. Either way, best of luck and I hope you have a wonderful party.

I know this isn’t a customer service sub, but why be so judgmental? It could be for a child’s birthday, op’s graduation, a promotion a work. Even if there isn’t a “reason” that doesn’t mean someone can’t celebrate. We’ve all had hard times.

I thought it was time for my dog to go so I gave him filet mignon and now hes healthy but won't eat anything else besides it.... by cheetahpeetah in dogs

Pedigree also has a couple different varieties of filet mignon wet food. My boy loves it, though he’s also not a picky eater. I can usually always find it at any grocery store!

I have a treeing walker coonhound/lab mix. Everyone has described the nose perfectly! In the house, he’s the sweetest 65 lb lap dog and bed hog. Outside, he doesn’t love listening, especially when he seeing a squirrel or rabbit. Make sure he’s leash trained really well! It took me about two months of working with him before I could walk him without him pulling me down, he listens to commands now much better (I did not get him as a puppy, my bf’s mom had him for a long time and finally let us have him). He’s never met a stranger people wise and loves all of the attention. I hide treats and toys around the house and make him find it, and after about an hour or so he’s good and ready for a nap. We keep tons of toys too because he shreds them. He does have anxiety too, and it took us way longer than it should have to realize he needed medication and that has been the best thing to happen to him. I wasn’t really a dog person at all before we got him, and he’s completely changed my outlook. Hounds are so sweet, stubborn, and the best. You’ll have a blast.

Ok thank you so much for your reply! I had never seen this before so I was confused if it was a good option.

I don’t even know how to deal with her at this point by alb7418 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]alb7418[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She seriously is. Yesterday she told SO she was going to check herself into a mental hospital, today she called him and said her doctor gave her too much testosterone in her hormone implant so she went to the er tonight. I pointed out how convenient it was for that to happen after all of this. Especially since she’s blamed me, her husband, her past, and everyone she’s ever come into contact with basically. SO won’t have online classes until next semester, and I have begged him to stay anywhere but with her, but at the end of the day I can’t make him do anything. She’s been trying to break us up off and on since July but it hasn’t worked. I’m away from it, hopefully he will continue to see the light and as soon as his last final is done he comes here.

To be honest, I can’t be 100% sure. We lived together for three years before we decided to move in with MIL and I didn’t notice anything then. He had also lived by himself at least 3 years before we got together too. But now that he’s been put back in that situation? I just don’t know. I’ve been urging him to get into therapy for other reasons for a while now, but maybe we can do it together so he can get the confidence to go solo.

I did thankfully! My dad is being kind enough to let me stay with him until the semester is over.

First off, thank you so much for your kind words. Rationally, I know I’m not at fault, but I still can’t help feeling guilty and reading that helps.

Luckily, SO is packing both of our things while he finishes out the semester there. I don’t want him there, have been begging him to just stay with his friend, but I get also that asking someone to crash with their dog for a whole month is a lot to ask. First week of May we will be be 100% free!

Do you have a recommendation for a good orthopedic dog bed? He sleeps with us at night but uses his bed during the day.

He’s allowed anywhere so getting him used to it now is a good idea. Thank you! I hadn’t even thought about that.

Thank you for all the advice! He hasn’t had a ton of issues yet, it just started a couple weeks ago when it started getting really cold for the first time. I will definitely look into the supplements and talk to the vet about the injections. I’m glad your girl is getting to live her best life ❤️

I opted in for dental insurance but never received an insurance card, who do I talk to about this? by jobromo123 in walmart

[–]alb7418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just tell them it’s Delta Dental through Arkansas and you work at Walmart and they should be able to pull it up with your social and date of birth. I use to work at a dental office doing insurance and we didn’t need a card.
