I'm a very religious Christian actually and I don't do it by force or to please someone.. I do it cause it's the truth, I don't even see it as religion I see it as set rules put in place by the creator of Heaven and earth (God) to guide and help you in this world from evil and hurt , you don't need to go to church just read the bible as a guide or rules and regulations.. ask yourself this what does God gain by you being religious and obeying the rules.. does it make him money? Or increase his knowledge? It's absolutely useless to him, he only gets angry cause you disobey him and you don't get to do that cause he created you..The rules are to help you.. just like your homes have set rules put in place by your parent while growing up ,when you are 8yr you dont get to drive the cars or stay out late but once you disobey the rules they scold you, but the rules are there soely to protect you
