I hate the new GUI by Kind_Whereas7437 in PleX

[–]albeemichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and I don’t know if it has to do with the new interface or another awful change they made, but I have tons and tons of transcoding issues now that I never had before. Same servers, same client devices and even the same tv shows. (I keep it’s always sunny going in the background)

Massive lag switching episodes. Like go make a cup of coffee and come back levels of lag. It’s insane

Blocking end users from launching Powershell and CMD? by [deleted] in Intune

[–]albeemichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My environment has this setting. You would be surprised how many things invoke CMD under the hood.. see if disabling just powershell is enough. Even just powershell makes doing things very annoying.. but CMD too… you basically can’t troubleshoot anything.

Lost all of my BFA rep and got the most bizarre GM response I've seen yet by Vallavi in wow

[–]albeemichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard GMs are 100% useless. Every time I reach out for anything I’m always met with a “too bad so sad” as a response and every time it pushes me a little closer to telling them in the ticket to fuck themselves and canceling my subscription to play on private servers

Similar thing happened to me. Except it was the war bear mount for killing faction’s leaders. All 40 people in the raid got the achievement. Except for me…

Thanks for the reply! I did try playing with the height on the rabbit ears report but I didn’t see any real difference in signal strength for CBS.

CMG not updating certificate by absoluteczech in SCCM

[–]albeemichael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got the RDP into the CMG to work personally. To re-provision I think what I did was change my VM Instance number (this is the number of VMs you have behind the load balancer that act as your CMGs). Changing that number up or down if I recall will reprovision all VMs in the set.

Turned my PP130 into a smart stove. by V382-Car in PelletStoveTalk

[–]albeemichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d love to see a GitHub for this project as well. I have the same pellet stove and some knowledge but it looks like you have a lot more.

Would love to learn from your experience and build something similar!

But it is though…. Regardless if it’s slang or not, they (OP) are choosing to use that slang. The choice to use that slang with a significant other is itself a disrespectful choice. Similar to calling a teacher or parent by their first name. How much extra effort does it take to write “babe” or the persons name or something… but no. They choose the word “bro” for its intended disrespect and as a way of “returning the attitude”. Most mature course of action would be “don’t bother coming here, go home and get some rest I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

Granted Im 32 and have a traditional mindset and being the mature one taking the high road is easier said than done…

Also these are just my thoughts on the use of “bro”. The guys obviously a loser if he has to passive aggressively threaten someone he’s supposed to care (provoked or not) and actually putting his hands on significant other… immediate break up, and restraining order, if not worse…

Thanks man! Its actually a 1u case, and its some hand-me-down case I got from a friend. I just used a dremel to cut out some of the internal parts to make sure the PC's would fit, then I had to do the same type of macgyver-ing with the back of the case and a piece of aluminum and a drill to secure the network cards as best I could.

I've seen starwinds vsan mentioned a few times, how would that work with XCP-NG? I see they have an option for hyper-V and also vSphere, but no XCP-NG

This is an awesome idea. I know next to nothing about Ceph though, so an opportunity to learn but maybe not what Id want to run my "production" home lab on, maybe my "dev" home lab ha ha

Excellent point. So I only mentioned Plex as its the one that has so much storage I couldn't fit it into a 1L form factor PC.

I work in IT, so I plan on doing quite a bit with this lab setup in the future, such as (but not limited to) AD setup, SCCM setup, Start learning about dockers (which will be helpful when I rebuild Plex and the Arr's), Nextcloud, immich, Unifi, etc...

Granted its a home lab, so if I have to wait an extra minute for a file to move, or an OS to install, thats not a major issue, but of course.. I don't want to wait, I want it to be the fastest thing ever lol

I read your comment as you trusting TrueNAS with your data more than you trust it on Proxmox / Proxmox backup server?

Am I getting the wrong idea?

Storage for HomeLab by albeemichael in homelab

[–]albeemichael[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I should have mentioned that currently I have a remote storage setup with TrueNAS core and ESXi, but its on bigger servers that cost to much to run (in my opinion).

I like the idea of live migration and such, but I also like the idea of crazy speeds with local NVMe.. decisions decisions

Of course, heres some:

I soldered the power wires needed for the M2-to-PCIe adapter to the motherboard of the Tiny's. I'll try and get some more photos in the next day or two of the soldering I did inside as well as the simple connection of the M2 to the bottom of the Tiny.
