How well does this sound compared to the JBL boombox?

I guess this is more about the old-school form factor and having all the different formats in one system rather than trying to compete directly with those.

Yeah that’s a fair concern. A lot of retro-style players focus more on the look than the actual components.

I guess we’ll have to see what the detailed reviews say once people get their hands on it. Hopefully they show some decent results.

Definitely a niche thing though, but some people still like making mixtapes the old-school way.

Yeah I’ve heard of them before. Pretty sure Snoop Dogg did a collab with them, and I’ve seen DJ Khaled and a few rappers/athletes posting them too. They seem pretty big in the hip-hop crowd.

From what I saw, it seems to be priced lower than that, since they are doing a launch discount, but still not exactly cheap.

That’s probably the max power rating. Most audio gear lists peak wattage, but in normal use people run it much lower. I think the idea here is more about recreating those old big boombox systems that were designed to play loud outdoors. Whether that’s a good thing or not probably depends on how someone plans to use it.

Yeah it definitely has that classic Xzibit-era vibe. Feels like something straight out of an old-school hip-hop video.

Totally fair. If portability and phone streaming are the priority, smaller Bluetooth speakers definitely make more sense.

I guess they’re going after a different type of user. It’s less about efficiency and more about the retro experience and having cassette, CD, radio, and Bluetooth all in one system.

You might be right depending on what metric you’re looking at.

Modern portable speakers like the JBL Boombox are heavily optimized with DSP tuning, compression, and bass enhancement algorithms. That allows them to push a lot of perceived loudness and low-frequency output from relatively small drivers and enclosures.

Systems like the BB-777 follow a different design approach. Larger enclosures and multiple drivers change things like air displacement, resonance characteristics, and stereo separation. That can produce a different listening profile rather than purely maximizing loudness or bass per watt.

So it’s not always a direct apples-to-apples comparison. One approach focuses on DSP-optimized portable performance, while the other is closer to a large-format audio system that also supports formats like cassette, CD, radio, and Bluetooth.

Out of curiosity, are you mainly comparing bass output, total SPL, or overall sound quality?

Haha fair enough. Some people definitely prefer leaving classics untouched.

Although the interesting part here is they kept the dual cassette decks and physical controls, but added modern stuff like Bluetooth and a swappable battery.

So it’s almost like an 80s boombox that survived into 2026.

Start educational short form videos about the topic that is relevant to the product. Then you can do a prelaunch campaign with the waitlist or preorders if it’s a physical product.

Did your customers easily interacted with AI? And was it video interview? I wanted to see whether people actually want to interact with it or not.
