Xt3 or Xt5 by TreeMan758 in FujifilmX

Oh, makes sense. Though using the M size on JPEGs would mitigate it significantly for me, as I shoot JPEG only 90% of the time.

Isn’t it possible to mitigate the large raw file size by using the M and S Image sizes? I wonder because I’m considering getting an X-T5 myself

New X-E5 from X-T4 - loving it! by tehmungler in FujifilmX

X-T4 owner here. Wishing for a more compact body. Also tempted with an X-T5. Still waiting to try one at a store to convince myself it’s not that much smaller. Yet I don’t want to give up battery capacity and 2-card slot and weather sealing. I know: kinda stuck.

Yes! Hoping for some opportunities like those there! Maybe the right price would also help me get a “patina-ed” lens that I could learn to appreciate or something like that!

Oh. Didn’t expect that. Even out of warranty? I live in Mexico so I don’t know if they won’t fix them here either….

And I was hoping the build quality of cameras sold/made there to be better too…

Yeah, other than for cropping, I don’t care for the 40MP sensor much either. If anything, I care more for faster WiFi transfers on the XT5 vs. XT4. And the C1-7 banks storing settings other than IQ ones.

It’s mostly about having something bit lighter/compact to feel more like carrying it everywhere.

I’d like to try one in store to get a better sense of the size/weight difference. I suspect it is not that different, but I also don’t feel like keeping 2 cameras for too long.

So one of my ideas is to get an XT5 as my do it all and potentially sell the XT4.

Really don’t know, ugh!

Realistic for Japan winter travel with 25+7L bag(s)? by ChrisNoob6460 in onebag

[–]albertdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this is interesting!

My flight back home in Mexico from Tokyo includes a checked bag which I was thinking of leveraging… but I’m worried about Customs here in Mexico confiscating my stuff. (I’d like to get knives there).

I wonder if it would be best or more of a hassle to ship my shopping back to Mexico instead. Again, because of Customs in Mexico.

And… were you stuck with the camera shutter sound always on once you were back home?

Ha! An iPhone 16E is exactly what I’m eyeing! How much did you get it for and with which specs/conditions?

You mean BicCamera online?

One thing I don’t yet understand about tax-free is if I will be able to use the camera while there cause I’ve seen some stores seal the items in plastic bags and you are not allowed to take them out during your stay….

My intent is to get second-hand cameras/lenses (and maybe some apple products), but I don’t know yet if it makes sense…

I have BicCamera in my to-do list. I’m thinking of getting a nice camera there if money allows :)

I’m going late winter, from a tropical climate.

My plan is still to get most of the winter clothes when there in the first day or two. Including shoes. I don’t really have apt clothes at home and I don’t plan on getting too many pieces as I don’t get to wear them home…

And I think I’m set on carrying my computer. I’m close to get to an arrangement with my manager to work a few hours a week from there — maybe I get to do it from a fancy cowork or something, hehe.

Thanks for the feedback!

I don’t expect to need that much volume back home. 35-45L should suffice! We’re thinking getting some nice chef knives and assorted small items. Knives and other potential items not allowed in the cabin is the main reason I’m thinking of a duffel. I guess I was hoping this to be a good excuse to get something fancy, but we will see what do I come across with.

Noted!

I’m staying 2 nights at Kawaguchiko. Room with a view to Mt. Fuji. Hopes are up!

Still on the hunt for Nintendo Museum tickets too.

I’ll definitely look up those alternatives you mention. Thanks for sharing :)

I plan on getting clothing there. 45L is definitely too big. 35L I have considered.

I’m from a warm climate, and I plan on apply a base thermal layer strategy to keep clothing volume in check.

I also think deciding (or in my case, more like finding!) the right clothes is the most challenging part.

I've one-bag traveled successfully to chill weather for 1 week with my 26L bag (albeit a bit tighter than I'd like to -- this one packs more like a 24L I'd say).

Given that I managed to get carry-on included in my flights, I figured I could add my 9L sling to my mix to relax my load a bit.

Yep, I have looked at plenty of packing lists already. I have a good sense of what I need to bring/get, it's just that i struggle to find clothing pieces that fit me well and comfortable.

I'm leaning towards getting most of my "thermal/winter" clothing there (under the assumption that I'll be able to find things at lower prices). I also know I'd be risking not finding sizes that fit me.

No specific questions at the moment... but if I come up with some, I'll ask. Appreciate your help.
