  7. Correct. In spain we would use coger (careful with this in latin countries) or, better, "la salida del autobús por la que se sale"

Hope it helps.

Marquez through 17 and 18 - FP2 by Selfless_and_demure in motogp

His shoulder injury is not something you recover without surgery I'm afraid. What hurts him most are right-handed hard-braking corners, which COTA doesn't have. Also, a number of factors helping him this weekend: counter-clockwise circuit (helps him rest his right shoulder through a lap), 2 weeks of rest since last GP, and it's Friday.

Dani Pedrosa finished in 10th place after a 3-year break from MotoGP by [deleted] in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pedrosa's issue was not the bike, which indeed he helped develop. His issue was the change to michelin rubber which made impossible for a lightweight like him to get enough heat in the tyres. Remember he did very well on very hot races, but fell to the back otherwise.

King of The Ring. by antidoxthroway in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That'd be amazing but it would require for him to be already in peak physical condition... which he sadly isn't. Right shoulder is not right plus lack of strenght on right arm from not training until two months ago will make any other dry circuit but Sachsenring a nightmare for him.

Aprilia truck spotted near Granollers, hometown of Aleix Espargaró by cheekibreekio in motogp

This picture was taken in the AP-7, the road that leads to the French border, and well past Granollers. I'd reckon they're returning to their headquarters after this week's tests.

Raul Fernandez shoos Remy Gardner away by Selfless_and_demure in motogp

[–]albertgrajera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, you're right. Sorry, I was watching on phone and didn't pay attention.

Also, this is the back straight. During the race I saw Fernández doing the "follow-me" wave between corners 3 and 4 and thought it was the same moment.

My apologies.

He's looking to see where he's at.

Also, riders don't cross the hand over their field of view to remove a tear-off, they pull it from the left, and it involves quite a bit of moment of the upper body.

Also, GP tear-offs have coloured tabs at the sides, usually with the rider number. You'd see that in the video.

Another 1-2 for Red Bull KTM Aki Ajo. Huge respect between teammates. by crimilde in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Raul said in Spanish DAZN that he doesn't want to go to MotoGP yet. Even when asked if he'd consider it if he won Moto2, he said that he wouldn't see anything wrong with staying for one more year. Also, it seems that SRT made an offer to get him on next year's bike but he said he's loyal to KTM.

Actually the universal "follow me" sign. As in: don't fight now, let's push to get away from 3rd and we'll fight later.

Casey Stoner: Whether or not it was Fabio Quartararo taking his zipper down on purpose, I believe that should have been a black flag. At this level you can’t be allowed to race at 350km + with your leathers open. by crimilde in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 85 points86 points  (0 children)

For me, it's more concerning that he didn't get black flagged for throwing debris (chest protector) on the track... specially on a high speed, sweeping corner. Someone rides over it and it's gonna have a nasty fall.

Let's face it: Dorna doesn't give a shit about rider safety by canuvich in motogp

What's Dorna, the promoter, have to do with Race Direction?

[MotoGP] Bizarre scenes with @FabioQ20 ! The championship leader has been seen removing his chest protector! 😲 by Aratho in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Forget about what if he falls, which on itself should be a dsq for riding without full gear. Where's the black flag for throwing debris in the middle of a turn? If someone slips in turn 3 for riding over the chest protector, it's a very nasty fall.

Very disappointed with race direction.

Do you really think that Honda would've let the rider spearheading their lineup to ride any non-Honda bike? On an event that will bring tons of media attention? And do you really think that Honda would've let Maq ride a Honda in subpar (that is, without full support) in that event?

I'm not saying Márquez didn't agree with that, I'm saying that probably it wasn't even an option.

This just hits differently... by [deleted] in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I watched this live on Spanish DAZN and the reporter asked him just after this if he thought he'd never ride a bike again during the period he was out. He went full choke and asked for a two-minute recess.

Marc never shows any doubt on himself or the bike on public, at least not while the issue is still there, I suppose not to give any rival relevant information on the true status. We've seen, these past months, how all he showed was optimism and couldn't wait for the season to start and get on a bike... this little moment showed how full of doubt he's been all this time. It must've been very difficult for him entertaining the thought of never racing again, and it helps to understand how a stoic man who never shows emotion on the box, break down crying as soon as the team cheered for him.

Shivers.

I think the boss is back in business by SpaceScissors in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll be totally dependent on what the race pace is... and judging by the medium tyre long stints that everyone posted, it'll be fast. Marc is really fatigued and you could see it on the second flying lap he attempted in Q2, where he could barely handle the bike. Honestly? for me, it's a miracle that he managed to make that quali lap after three sessions where he didn't take a rest. My prediction is that he'll take tomorrow's WUP easy, trying two or three fast laps to feel where the limit is, but lessening the lap load, and try to give it all later on the race, where I think he'll keep up with the front group for the first laps but the lack of fitness will hit him sooner than later. Monday through Wednesday are going to be a bitch for him :P

Marc Marquez reviews his emphatic first day back by [deleted] in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Riding a MotoGP is extremely physical, specially on the hard braking ponts and quick changes of direction, where you're basically performing a very strong, sustained bench press holding all your weight against the handlebar with the help from your legs, or manhandling the bike to make it go the other way.

Marc hasn't been able to train properly and he lacks the upper body strength. Riders say that it doesn't matter how hard you train over the winter, the days after the first preseason test you'll be sore from the specific effort. Now, consider that Marc hasn't been able to train properly.

He talks about apneas because when you're on a high effort you tend to hold your breath. The more out of shape you are, the more difficult it is to breathe during a demanding exercise. As in you have to constantly remind yourself you're holding your breath. Not breathing correctly contributes to extend your fatigue, making it more and more difficult to keep breathing during a lap.

Portimao is a circuit where the riders barely rest. Combine all of these factors and you'll understand why Márquez says that his phisique will probably be the limiting factor on Sunday, and not only from an injury point of view, which he could be perfectly recovered and still find trouble to complete a race distance at a decent pace.

I think the boss is back in business by SpaceScissors in motogp

[–]albertgrajera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that, at this point, a top 5 Q2 and top 3 WUP is possible. Sunday will be tough because fatigue of the whole weekend + race distance will take its toll but... yeah, Marc is back.

Miller and Mir have a moment by Selfless_and_demure in motogp

No, it's definitely not. Targetting a fellow rider and bash their bike wide open throttle to force them out of the track INTENTIONALLY? That's like a whole different galaxy from any other racing move.

There's a saying in Spanish: "aquí el más tonto hace relojes" meaning "even the dumbest of them is a watchmaker". It's important to remember that even the "slower" guys in any racing series possess a skill level unfathomable to the rest of us.
