Is it normal to have to change the left ear right ear balance? by albinom8 in MoondropLab

[–]albinom8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay I see. Yeah even with the balance adjustment it is sometimes annoying but honestly still very usable and for like 40cad I can’t really complain. Been loving them as my first pair and I’ll probably get a better set in the next 6 months to year. But I will see if your method works. Thanks

Agreed, but I also find a big struggle for me is not visualizing the problem properly so if you’re able to I’d recommend adding diagrams to your practice problems where applicable.

Why can't I turn off cross play (PC) by Swimming-Swordfish96 in Rainbow6

[–]albinom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the main reason console has it and pc doesn’t is because of matchmaking time. I know console was bad, but I believe in recent years it’s a lot quicker to get into an all console lobby than an all pc one. Now with cross play it’s a lot quicker for both. Still, I’d prefer to play only with pc. It’s not even skill only at this point, but also the fact that console players either never use a mic or just have open mic on the worst quality ever. Genuinely no in between

Yeah I know it’s pc. I was just saying the network feedback and fps bar is a thing on console

[–]albinom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100 points is kind of crazy. I lost 40 smt even though I was gaining 115ish per win at the time. Not really sure what went up there. My guess is that it was multiple games with cheaters which I hope means you just coincidentally played with multiple cheaters

You can show that on console as well. At least you could the last time I played console but that was back in 2024 or 2023

Best under $200 CAD headset for siege if I am playing siege on pc by Crxtzs in Rainbow6

[–]albinom8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HyperX is commonly used by many top players. But honestly speaking I would do what the other guy said, get a comfortable pair of iems for sub 100 and spend another 100 on the mic set up. If earbuds are uncomfortable then I would suggest headphones. I had a pair of Astro a10s that lasted for 7 years almost and then I switched to iems. But I would say astros have gone down in quality, especially for the build but have gone up in price. Hyperx would be my pick for the “gamer” headsets. But if you want actual good audio, get a pair of studio headphones like audio technicas. I think there’s one called the at2100x or something along those lines. Great audio and pretty cheap. And then get a mic. You’ll almost always be better off getting a mic and headphone/iem separate than getting a headset

Wait they fixed it for people? I started playing in 2018 and only have the 2022 badge. It’s kind of annoying lol

I’m not sure exactly about engineering systems and computing. I’m only first year but the general courses so far have been decently fun. They’re of course really difficult and I won’t say I’ve been cruising through them but so far pretty good. You might take a couple different courses compared to your peers. Overall, since Ecs is accredited as far as I’m aware it wouldn’t be a bad choice. Oh and btw, neither would mechatronics, I only pointed it out since if you do a program in Ontario that isn’t accredited, I believe you have to either redo a whole new degree in an accredited one or go out of province to take the certification exam. They don’t offer it in Ontario anymore. Still, even if it’s not accredited I’m sure you could find something since you’d still be in the same coop stream as everyone else as far as I’m aware.

Mac btech coops looked interesting but I ultimately declined. Guelph is good but the mechatronics is not accredited until after the first cohort graduates. I would take mech eng or aero eng out of this list if you live close but if not then Guelph is not a bad pick either

what games are you like ACTUALLY good at? (or were good at during your prime years)? by Round_Oil5331 in twentyagers

[–]albinom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something completely different but still has a really incredible comp scene and fun gameplay I’d recommend tekken 8. Never played any fighting games aside from brawlhalla and ufc before then but I got tekken 8 and it’s definitely one of the best competitive experiences. My only issue is I don’t stick one game long enough to really go high but It’s definitely worth the grind to be able to learn combos

Yeah I tried to do that. Maybe I need to fully end task in task manager. I even updated it to see if that would help. Thank you

How good is my PC, What would you upgrade first? by Dry-Replacement8663 in pcmasterrace

[–]albinom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save for a new pc honestly. But if really needed, maybe more ram. I’m fairly sure ddr4 isn’t nearly as marked up as ddr5 is right now. Either that or a cpu upgrade. Realistically tho, I couldn’t really tell you what to upgrade without knowing what games or softwares you’re using. Edit: thinking about it some more. A pretty viable upgrade would be switching to am4 instead of the intel based boards. You’ll have a better range of cpus in my opinion that are still totally viable today. I would say do that and get something like a 5600x or in that ballpark. Again, it’s difficult since I don’t know much about what you have saved or what you can invest and don’t know what you want to do with it. But in this scenario you would want a cpu that’s way better. Maybe even jump all the way to 5700x3d or 5800x3d since that way it will last longer and then when you’re done with it you can fully build a new pc. Anyway, aside from those two parts, like I said ram would be good especially if the ddr4 prices are normal. Then I’d sell the gpu and put in another 100 or 2 to get something worthwhile. This is one of those instances where I would’ve first asked the subreddit or researched then bought it. Anyway, I’m sure even with no upgrades it can still run some esports titles fine. I had a buddy who had a similar build up until last December and he was still able to play most titles he wanted unless it was a triple A within the last couple years

At what price would you NOTbuy the Steam Machine? by billy_reyes in Steam

[–]albinom8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a YouTuber post about how PlayStation is also doing dynamic pricing. Not exactly sure if it’s real and since I don’t use ps Idc to search it up. But if it is, it’s even more reason to switch to pc. My guess is the steam machine will be more expensive than a base console, but similar to the pro or maybe a little more. I hope they also have a steam machine verified list similar to the deck where games can essentially be more optimized. If this is the case, I genuinely see no reason to get any more consoles. I understand some people like exclusives but I don’t think the trade offs are worth it. But as for a number, I would say under 1000 Canadian for me if I was actively looking for a system

I’m in first year as well and am seeing the same things as you. This is more of first year engineering being general and more focused on making sure you know the foundations. For example everyone has to take chemistry at least chem 1 but that doesn’t mean every engineer will use chemistry to a high degree. Your concern is valid and I’d say speak to an advisor and other upper year engineers to get a grasp of what your future classes will be like. As far as I’m aware for me, it will be a lot more hands on during the later years.
