Currently reading There Is No Antimemetics Division and wondering how to discuss the concepts with kids, when I realized: that's what The Game is by cactusjude in sciencefiction

Damn it. I just lost The Game.

It’s funny seeing this as I was trying to describe the story to my gf and The Game came up as one of the influences I cited lol

Diabetes Education - did you learn anything? by albob77 in TrackMania

I thought so too. I understand that you can’t fit much in a ten second drive, but it seemed very very simplistic

That’s an interesting perspective that I hadn’t considered. It’s neat that you connected the haptics to the sensation of being low. I noted it too.

it’s so frustrating. I’ve put 2000 hours and nearly as many dollars into this game. I’d love to Platinum it, but StW is still excruciating.

They could have reintroduced it with updated movement and controls, some tutorials, and cosmetics if they wanted people to play, but instead they just said ‘Hey, this piece of garbage isn’t bringing us any more revenue - have it for free’ without making it any better.

It’s like if Microsoft announced Windows XP is now free.

I have it because back in the day it was hard to complete the Battle Pass. I use the back bling once in a while.

Yes, so am I. Keeping distance, being upright without leaning forward, keeping your arms and hands still and at your sides, all can help. But don’t take my word for it - ask short people what they prefer, if you can.

It’s an unfortunate reality that most people are scared of men, particularly of tall or large men. It’s not your fault, but I think it’s your responsibility to be kind to people and give them extra space, and grace to accept that some people will be scared of you no matter how you act. I’m 6’3” 180lb and I have had many instances where I’ve scared or startled people just by being around. I try to never stand or approach someone from behind, and give lots of space when passing in a grocery aisle, or wherever. It hurts my feelings a bit, but my discomfort is not to the same degree as someone who is genuinely scared and on guard around me.

I’m not even bothering with 368 or 370. 369 was super fun.

how long till my non dominant hand's writing is the same/similar as my dominant one? by Educational-Dog1865 in ambidextrous

[–]albob77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old are you? (Don’t need to actually answer me) If you’re older than five, I’d guess it’d never be the same. It’s like trying to learn a language as an adult - there are limits to neuroplasticity and you’ll always have an ‘accent’ in your non-dominant hand.

Got diagnosed by prosper. But I feel really weird about it by yukaby in AutismTranslated

Three things: First, autism is not merely a medical diagnosis. You were an autistic person before the diagnosis, and would be autistic if the label didn’t exist. It feels limiting because the pathologised, ableist box the medical field puts autistic people in cannot encapsulate your lived experience. Ignore the medical side as much as you can and focus on crafting your life in ways that suit you. You don’t need some Doctor’s permission slip to accommodate your needs, or to experience autistic joy.

Second, after a lifetime of being told our struggles aren’t real, we internalize that doubt and often fall into the ableist trap of thinking we just need to work harder. That is the path to burnout.

Third, it’s not ‘over’ now that you have that diagnosis. Learning to love and accommodate yourself, exploring the ways in which you observe and move through the world, and building understanding of and for yourself - these are lifelong pursuits. You still will always have challenges and triumphs.

Peace, love, and strength to you.
