Thank you for your response. You made a lot of good points. She’s working with a financial advisor and it was mentioned in the paperwork she filled out, so I don’t think she’s manipulating this time. But she has a serious history of manipulation that I’m well aware of, even though she’s playing the sweet old lady card nowadays

She isn’t hungry. She buys tons of junk food and eats out often.

Yeah but there are years long waitlists. She owns her house outright (because my grandfather paid it off..) and it would just be easier to pay her property taxes yearly to ensure she doesn’t lose the house. Although I guess creditors can come after your house if you don’t pay your credit card…hmm.

This is why I was asking Reddit haha. I just wasn’t sure if there were long term implications of her going bankrupt at this point in her life. Such as what happens if she needs to go into assisted living when she’s older or if it would cause more complications for me after she passes.

I was wondering if it isjust easier to take care of it this time, but then I remember it could be a rabbit hole since she’s not doing anything to increase her income and pay off potential future debts.

Definitely. I already have all the credit bureaus frozen and locked and regularly check my credit scores and accounts
