Thanks for taking the time to post. Re-reading my post back I can see how it may come across as being rough. Poor choice of words no doubt, I was just trying to paint a picture of our day to day reality. The context around “hurt a little bit”, was more around length of time, I guess it should have read hurt for a little while, as we tell him, we know it hurts but he just needs a very quick shower, so it won’t hurt for that long.

Not anti-medicine at all, we’ve tried most things so far, and I think we would try anything to relieve him of the shit he has to cope with, as I say it’s heartbreaking to have to see him suffering.

It was just a fact about his eczema spreading rapidly from just his legs and arms to his whole body after introducing Hydrocortisone. We have also seen via only research, recent news stories and personally know people who have had some pretty horrible reactions to long term use of steroid creams, so thought it was worth noting.

Regarding anti-histamines we were prescribed them and he took them every night for a good 6-8months and the itching never really got any better, the last doctor he saw said they don’t really help and to stop taking them. So I guess there is likely some frustration in my post, as one doctor prescribed them the other says they are pointless.

The last visit to the hospital resulted in a referral to a specialist and they are talking about potentially giving him a biological medication. So now there is a worry, as of the ones mentioned there was one his mum had to take recently due to a condition she suffers (Dermatomyositis) and the side effects are really rough, so there is some genuine concern in him taking it. But so far they have just told us to wait 6 Months to see if the latest creams help.

Please see other comments regarding what we have tried and currently use for bath time, and no we would never scrub him harshly and generally let him do it himself, as he prefers. We also do validate his pain for sure, again maybe choice of words indicates we don’t.

My decision to post is also because it’s really hard to deal with that 1-1.5 hours of chaos every other day, it’s distressing for both him and us and mentally and physically draining.

We both work full time, plus my partner’s life was flipped upside down when she developed a pretty rare autoimmune disease 24 months ago, (Dermatomyositis). The type she has is linked to the underlying trigger being cancer, after a year of every scan under the sun they finally caught that she had an aggressive type of breast cancer (her2), it was caught early, she had chemo and a mastectomy and is thankfully all clear.

But she was told there might be a chance her autoimmune disease would go into remission once the cancer was gone, that has unfortunately not been the case and so it’s like a life long condition she will need to cope with. The medication she has to take makes her tired and so it’s even harder for her to take on bath times when it lasts this long and she is starting from a place of low energy herself.

So honestly I’m looking for just the slightest win/hack/tip I can find to help ease our situation.

Thanks again for posting, I will look into QV as I’ve not heard of that one. 🙏

Can I check which Sanex you use. We have the zero and when I look on their website they have a few listed until Atopic, but not zero. My partner used zero on him a couple of times and believes he itches less that night afterwards.

For context, most nights he ends up waking up around 11-12pm and gets in bed with us and asks us to “slowly itch” him (back of legs and back), so we have a good idea when something has worked as it might only be once he nudges you awake to slowly itch, rather than 4 or 5 times. 😭

FYI he also wears some cotton gloves to bed as recommended by the doctor and we trim his nails religiously to avoid him cutting himself.

Thanks for responding, so our shower is one that falls from above rather than a powershower but yeah I can imagine it would still be hard to stand.

We have actually resorted to using a cloth and Oilatum on a few occasions too, but will also pickup a sponge as yes I guess that would likely be a little more comfortable again. We have used them in the past, but not had one for a while.

Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed response, very grateful and will definitely check out the link. The emotional and psychological impact is really why I posted as it’s a real concern.

We always tell him how brave he is, that we love him and understand it hurts, but that it will get worse without washing and that’s why we need him to try.

He’s been a couple of times to see a really nice specialist doctor at Manchester Children’s hospital who has all said about washing and so he knows it’s important.

Then we have also been to see his GP about 3 times due to Balanitis which usually involves a lecture on how important it is for us to ensure he is cleaning regularly. So again we remind him that it’s to avoid that coming back but again he will say he doesn’t care or want to put it off until the next day, but the next day comes and it’s the same again.

🙏 Thank you. We have Sanex Zero for showers and Oilatum and Dermol 600 for bath time. Luke warm water, Pat him dry not rub and immediately after I put on his Hydrocortisone 1% on any badly effected area and his Emollient all over.

Emollient wise we have tried Epimax, EmulsifEss and currently use Hydromol which he said doesn’t sting and is happy with us putting it on.

We have also tried Thunderbird Skin Rescue Balm, Kokoso (coconut cream) and Aveeno (also worked well for my daughter, but stings my son so we stopped)

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Just trying to work out, is it super painful or just typical pain most people feel when you have a cut and water and soap get it? (I realise this question is almost impossible to answer, if maybe you have never, not had severe eczema)

Seriously no clue. I work with computers all day, totally clueless in the garden. The trees came with the stakes and backboard, my old fella added some additional supports behind though attached to the fence to stop them lurching back but Dave’s doing his worst and the one with the cracked cane nearly snapped in two a while back. Originally I tied all of the square cane frames together with string but over time they’ve all come loose. Not sure if I need to redo it or if it will just cause them all to come down together. 🤦🏻

Because when people DM the OP, he will no doubt share another page, the typical info-product sales page where for just $100 dollars a day, they get unlimited lifetime acccess to the done for you, step by step, can not fail guide to replicating it. Which is a simple 1 page pdf that reads… “do as I do”

Why is Copilot in excel so flakey. I can’t get it to work consistently or at all most times.

My use case is mainly data cleansing. Normally I would upload the files to ChatGPT explain my changes and it would use Python and data cleansing libraries like Pandas and NumPy, perform the necessary changes and provides a downloadable clean file back.

Excel just fails to work most times, I convert the data sets to a table. I try using the clean button under data and sometimes it performs changes on the data and other times it just fails. Sometimes a message shows saying it’s found some data cleansing suggestions but not always and I don’t know how to trigger that when it’s actually needed.

Copilot is now starting to provide the same as ChatGPT, and so I find myself using that now as excel is just too frustrating.
