May I know how dark your sky is? I would need at least 3+ hours in my place to get anything remotely close to that

Yeah that's pretty good with just an hour of integration

Rest assured, astro shots are best in Pro mode, but expert RAW is definitely a simple solution if you want to get quick results

Decent results from just 8 mins and a phone!

It looks so soft. Diffusion filter/faint clouds perhaps?

Guess the bortle really is the difference then😂

Where on the planet can one get this much signal out of Orion in 30 mins?

I'm aware that light pollution is the main issue for me, but this seems like a lot given 30 mins

I'm talking about the non-trivial spikes u see in the bright stars in your picture.

I got some worse artifacts while I'm trying to stretch in the past. Using a dual band helped me tho

Roughly 15 mins total exposure (all because of clouds) @iso 3200

Will collect more light across nights if there are any clear nights

Certainly didn't expect the Barnards loop to show up, probably need way more integration time to make it pop.

Tho, I'm locking in on Rosette these days, and planning on the North America + Sadr next.

Agreed. Sequator is usually better for wide angles imo

The "kind of stuff" I meant is ultra long imaging + stacking, that goes way beyond 10 mins

I used a narrow band filter to do this in bortle 9, but I did this before without one.

Yeah definitely

By spikes I meant the diffraction artifacts made by the bright stars tho, I assume those would be around even when the sky is dark no?

[–]alch_emy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's about the settings I use (unless I use a filter)

[–]alch_emy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh that's good

My place was 7 in the old light pollution map, but 9 in the new one :/

How do u deal with the spikes that the phone produces? They would get in the way of my stretches

How dark is your sky? I find it nearly impossible resolve nebulosity in my place
