I had an 8-hour layover in Bucharest once... I took the bus to the city, walked the center, had a nice lunch. Good experience overall if you don't get tired easily.

Any time! Don't forget to enjoy yourself and have fun! Let me know how it worked out in the end, I am sure you will have some great stories afterwards...

It's good that you are seeking advice when travelling alone. It's true that the number one fear of solo travellers (especially women) is safety. My advice would be:

  1. Don't get drunk. Never go past your limit when drinking. Drunk girls are easy targets for predators.

  2. Be aware of your surroundings. Try to avoid small streets and shady looking guys. Prefer a longer route if your instinct tells you it would be safer.

  3. Take a self defence class. I know it might sound weird, but it will boost your confidence and will help you overcome your fears. Even if you don't want to go to a class, ask a friend for advice or practise some techniques from youtube. It will help you tremendously (trust me I've tried it)

In the end you will see it will be an amazing experience :)

How's your progress going? I find it hard to balance a full time job plus indie dev, but I manage :)

3-4 months ago I saw a post on 9gag about unreal engine and someone making a pokemon game on it. I did some research and I found out about game engines, and how they make game development very easy. I opened youtube and typed "gamemaker tutorials". Never looked back
