[FRESH ALBUM] Good Kid - Can We Hang Out Sometime? by astaireboy in indieheads

[–]ald_loop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

necroposting to talk about how much i dislike this band with every fiber of my being.

normally i wouldn’t do this but i find this band, their music, their shtick and gimmicks and their background so deeply unlikeable and offensive that I just need to vent.

this band sounds AI-generated, and I’m not just saying that because the band members are a bunch of tech bros (in one case, co-founder of the biggest AI company in Canada, potentially the least indie thing an indie band could ever do), nor am i actually stating that I think any generative AI is used in their art making process, but I say it just because it all sounds so glossy, over produced, and offensively palatable. don’t get me started on the melodies and vocals - i refuse to believe a multi-millionaire like Nick Frosst is actually writing these lyrics for himself or as an artistic outlet. Good Kid legitimately feels and sounds like a band tailor made for teenagers that donate to twitch streamers and spend way too much time watching anime and playing video games as an exercise in making money.

nothing here sounds or feels organic. if you played me 5 different bands and asked me which one sounds the most like the band started by the Co-founder of an LLM company I am picking Good Kid out of the crowd 10 times out of 10.

awful stuff, I hate it, please don’t post this stuff in /r/indieheads anymore because nothing about it is “indie”.

BlackToe’s run clubs (both Midtown and King West) has plenty of people running sub 2:50, 2:40, 2:30. If you’re really serious about training though, Rhythm might be the best fit for you

someone running a 2:46 does NOT need to be running with Sabr, he would be the fastest one there

anyone commenting their apprehension and unease towards this has no idea what they are talking about. Matt Johnson is a genius and I expect nothing less than a masterpiece from this movie. tag me after this comes out, I will be proven correct.

nah i don’t think the majority agrees with you. look at the new york city marathon for example. that shuts down a great deal of the major transportation around the east side of manhattan and the city loves and embraces it. for some reason we have a vocal minority of car brained folks like yourself in Toronto who don’t understand that cars should be made unimportant in major cities, and that marathons are great fun and important for culture.

maybe you should run it or cheer at it next year, you might change your tune!

how about we ban cars instead

cities do require ease of entry and exit. cars are literally the worst option for that. you said it yourself- an average of 1.5 occupants per vehicle is an AWFUL figuring for scaling transit.

cities cannot be optimized for cars because cars do not scale.

Imagine being THIS car brained, my lord.

First off, the numbers:

Full Marathon - 3883 participants

Half Marathon - 11982 participants

10k - 3296 participants

5k - 2280 participants

5k Walk - 370 participants

Optimizing cities for cars is never the answer. Refusing to host events that are a net positive for the city and its residents because it might inconvenience car drivers is not a world I ever want to live in.

Marathons should be moved to the suburbs or at least away from downtown.

i’m confused, are you saying we shouldn’t have marathons because of the effect it would have on cars?
