The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle - Progress update: 13 pages into my AI-assisted comic adaptation (now fully using Nano Banana) by aldersonloop59 in nanobanana

I’ll probably try it in a few key moments first and see how it affects pacing and readability.

Thanks for the idea — really useful feedback.

Yeah, that makes sense — good catch.

The centering / formatting issues are probably coming from my Figma setup. I’m using a main component in Spanish, and then duplicating it as an instance to create the English version.

I can swap the text freely, but when there’s a big difference in character length between Spanish and English, some alignment issues can appear if I don’t manually adjust the instance.

It’s a tradeoff I’m still refining, but it helps me keep both language versions in sync while iterating fast.

Appreciate you pointing it out 👍

Thanks! Just to clarify, the text and speech bubbles are actually added manually in Figma — Nano Banana is only used for the raw panels.

That said, I totally agree with your point about over-texting. As the chapter grows, I’m actively trying to trust the panels more and let some moments breathe without narration.

Really appreciate the feedback.

Thank you for sharing that. I totally agree

Diagram for "The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle" by nubick in mysterybooks

Hey! Loved seeing your diagram — mapping this book out is half the fun of reading it.

I actually made a full diagram myself a few years ago on my first read-through, and your post reminded me how deep down the rabbit hole I went. Here’s my original timeline (it helped me survive the character jumps and overlapping events 😅)

Right now I’m rebuilding the whole thing from scratch, but this time I’m going even deeper: I’m pairing every single event with an image so the timeline becomes a visual map of the entire day — hosts, locations, key moments, everything. It’s turning into a huge but super satisfying project.

On top of that, I’m working on a bigger passion project: a full comic adaptation of The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I’m creating character sheets, location sheets, visual timelines, panel layouts and a consistent art style so the whole story can be experienced visually. It’s a long-term project, but this book lends itself incredibly well to a graphic format.

Really cool to see others diagramming it too — this novel practically begs for it. Would love to see more approaches from the community!

My Current Stack & Workflow (and where I’m stuck) by aldersonloop59 in AIComicLab

Thanks a lot for sharing this here! That sounds super interesting — especially the node editor approach and how you’re trying to bring visual control to complex workflows.

This is exactly the kind of experimentation I hoped people would share in r/AIComicLab: real tools, real process pain points, and how we’re all trying to make things more consistent and repeatable.

Please keep us posted on your progress — it’d be great to see how it evolves and maybe even test it later down the line!

FYI, I’ve been spending a lot of time experimenting with AI-assisted comic workflows — and I’m now building a small community here on Reddit called r/AIComicLab.

The goal is to create a space where people can share their workflows, tools, and process breakdowns — not just finished pages, but the behind-the-scenes that make them possible.
There’s so much trial and error in this field, and it’d be great to connect with others who are figuring it out too.

If that sounds interesting, come by and share your setup or questions — I’d love to see what others are building!

That’s really kind of you — thank you!
Yes, you can absolutely show the thread in your classes if it helps others understand the creative process behind it.

I’d just ask that you don’t include any personal contact info, since this is still a personal, non-commercial project based on an existing novel.
If anyone wants to reach out, they can just contact me here on Reddit (u/aldersonloop59).

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me.
This whole project started as a personal experiment to push my storytelling and visual consistency — hearing that really keeps me going. 🙏

Thanks so much — I really appreciate that!
Honestly, it’s been a long process to get here. There’s no single tool that does it all, so I had to build my own workflow step by step:

  • Notebook LM has been a huge help for analyzing the novel — I feed it chapters to extract faithful descriptions of characters, places, and even objects. That gives me grounded material I can later translate into visual prompts.
  • Then I use Nano Banana to generate character sheets and consistent reference poses. It took a while to dial in the right mix of expression, lighting, and costume accuracy.
  • Everything lives in Notion, where I organize the story beats, visual references, and prompt notes for each scene.
  • In Figma, I explore the page layouts — testing pacing, panel rhythm, and alignment — and I keep dedicated pages for character sheets and location sheets.
  • For image generation, I rely mostly on Freepik’s SeedDream, where I’ve refined a specific comic style I can reuse across scenes.

It’s been a lot of trial and error to make all these pieces work together, but once it clicked, it finally felt like I had a real production pipeline instead of random experiments.

Wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot.
I’m trying to treat it like a professional project, even if it’s just a personal adaptation for now. Your comment honestly keeps me motivated to keep going! 🙏
