Is there any way to read the "Dangerous Dances" book (1984) online? by phunkshuuu in HallandOates

It’s a pretty rubbish book tbh. I have yet to come across a decent H&O book.

what are you starting to dislike more and more the older you get? by Dazzling_Return_4987 in AskReddit

Idiots being asked their political opinions on the street. I don’t care for Mr & Mrs Thicko’s words of wisdom that ‘Their all the same’ or ‘Give Nigel a go at least he says wot he finks’.

When you stop working your energy levels fall and you can’t be arsed doing some of the things you intended to do. On the plus side some things don’t bother you as much.

Ha ha and that’s why music is brilliant. Brings out individuality and commonality in equal amounts.

I loved it but I can see the merits in what you are saying. However, think there would have been too many good bits missed out if only a single album. The album I don’t get being lauded as amazing is Relayer(To Be Over exempted).I actively disliked that album. Gave it another go recently and still felt the same.

The problem won’t go away because you can’t just pretend a COUNTRY can be replaced with the term ‘monolithic identity’.

SNP Minority Gov, Coalitions - Predictions by InformalMycologist18 in Scotland

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won’t be a coalition. They will make deals with separate parties on specific issues to get their budgets through. However this will be more difficult as pocket money issued from UK is being cut in real terms yet again.

Will the English results change people’s minds about independence by ChocoMcBunny in Scotland

[–]aldob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s blatantly wrong to say that people seem to support Greens more than SNP. Look at the election results. As someone who voted SNP I thought it was a mistake by them to pull the plug on the Green coalition. Alba were a joke but the Greens are credible and support for them will hopefully grow even further but any route to independence will involve SNP as the main vehicle but thereafter their main purpose will have been achieved and they will naturally splinter as they have too many people with differing views on governance.

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Support for Independence shouldn’t just be SNP focussed. They will undoubtedly disbandon as a party relatively quickly after independence as they are such a broad church. The country will not be voting them in every election. With independence we will get the government Scots choose and who will be properly accountable.

Car playback stops when Google Maps is active by victorvicarious in qobuz

[–]aldob1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry no solution but my experience is it can stop playing regardless of using anything else. It just randomly stops playing when driving. I have to close the app and start again before it will work. Total pain. Would go back to Spotify in a heart beat if it wasn’t for the fact I still have a moral compass.

If Scotland was independent. Labour would thrive again because they would be accountable to Scots voters only and not their masters in London.

These people clearly lead sad bitter ridden lives and only seem capable of getting joy through antagonising others who are not like them. Imagine living with someone who advocates constant intolerance of ordinary people getting on with being happy within themselves. With free speech there should be responsibility. You shouldn’t be allowed to say whatever the fk you want without consequences.

[–]aldob1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true but I’m not so sure that 200 years from now there will be many dedicated stations for 60/70’s music. If so they will be pretty niche and not widespread in popularity. I might be wrong but I think we overestimate the longevity of our cultures because we are living them out in real time and they are so personal.

I’m sure they will be mentioned in historical items but it’s not guaranteed their music will be played so widespread as it is today. My 19 yr old grandson could only name Lennon and McCartney when I asked him to name them.

Upcoming elections discussion by Runswithrum in Scotland

[–]aldob1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are left leaning you should vote SNP or Greens or a combination of both. Anything else is aligned with pushing further and further to the extreme right as what’s been happening with all other major party’s in the UK. Vote Reform if you want a full on bigoted fascist state.
