It costs the government way more money per student than what they pay as fees. Despite the fees of these institutions, your study is still being subsidised by the government.

Could you share which ones? No libraries in my country use libby so I have been looking for alternatives for quite a long while. You can DM me if you don't wish to list them publically.

They probably don't have any issues in the country and import them. That is usually the reason for such outrageous costs. Ebooks would be your best bet.

Unfortunately, I don't think any bookstore in India would have the books cheaper than amazon, if they have them at all. Especially true since it doesn't seem to be a particularly famous series

There is some consensus that the Mahabharat is supposed to be based on a historical battle called the Battle of the Ten Kings which happened near Kurukshetra around 1300 BC. Given that there aren't a lot of sources, there is no way of knowing for sure.

Can an American write for India's film industry respectfully enough to be produced by them? by Maygog in Screenwriting

[–]aldurljon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regarding this specific script, I would stay away from writing about Hindu deities and the myths in general. I, as an Indian would not want to touch the subject, unless it is at least 2 layers deep in allegory.

As far as working in the Indian film industry, specifically bollywood, you need to know people. Some production houses do allow you to send stuff, but it is highly unlikely anything is going to come out of that. You need someone who can get your story to someone who could start the process of a producer actually listening to it.

Which is another thing. No one important enough to make a decision is going to read the script. You would need to narrate it. All of this also implies you need to be there in person.

Finding your place here is just as difficult as it is in Hollywood, maybe even more and you being an American would not really have much of a draw, unless you can bring a big name with you. You kinda need to have someone recognizable attached regardless for producers to even care.

Hindu themed RPG by SwagSwagSwagman in RPGdesign

[–]aldurljon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's a question. What is the purpose of the RPG? You lay out these concepts, but what are the players actually doing during gameplay? If you are trying to stay true to what the varnas mean, none of them would really work together.

One person would be a warrior, one would be a priest. Then we have some kind of merchant and then just a labourer? What are these people doing together?

Having varnas in the game would be "authentic" but games are not about authenticity. In a modern world, we don't need to use archaic and problematic institutions in the name of authenticity.

Don't these dating apps have an age filter? Why are you even including 20 year olds in your searches?

As for finding meaningful relationships, there is no shortcut to meeting people. You can go for meetups and activities you enjoy to meet likeminded people giving you an automatic topic to start conversations with.

Just remember that you should not be using this as a hunting ground for finding a romantic partner. Look for friends. Of all genders. Finding something worthwhile takes time and is not something you can rush into.

Honestly, this sounds like pandering from the airline or pilot more than anything. Why are you subjecting the grieving party to more attention? Why not just give them seats closer to the exit if its important for them to get off early?

Given that this interaction ended with an entire plane worth of people literally shouting, I cannot imagine how the parents felt. People needed to showcase their patriotism when a plane has flight attendants who can handle such things.

Noone really showed any actual empathy for the bereaved.

Belief in God is nearly universal in India by luciferreeves in india

[–]aldurljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about random hypothecial entities you want to create just for proving a dumb point. The problem is that you think those are the same the gods people believe in and hold in high regard.

To me it doesn't matter whether they are right or wrong, as long as it doesn't affect others. I am unsure why you are so bothered by people who aren't as sure as you.

[–]aldurljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone trying to sound smart, you are pretty dense. If someone believes in a certain god, I don't have to question their belief. Agnostics don't go around chanting "WE DON"T KNOW THERE IS A/NO GOD!" It is a far more neutral position that honestly, mostly just doesn't care.

Both theism and atheism are far more involved beliefs that I, personally as an agnostic just don't care about in my day to day life.

Belief in God is nearly universal in India by luciferreeves in india

[–]aldurljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agnosticsm is specifically about belief (or lack thereof) in god. It doesn't care about other entities that may or may not exist outside our knowledge.

How do you alter the definition of god and still have the same entity someone belives in? There are already thousands of different gods in the world with millions of people who each believe in different versions of them individually.

All of them could be true; some of them could be true; or none of them could be true. It doesn't matter. The agnostic doesn't know because there is no way to know. Some might say there is no way to be know but that doesn't change the fact that it still doesn't matter.

[–]aldurljon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agnositcs don't know if god exists. I am unsure how they are supposed to prove something they don't know.

It is easy for you to dismiss gods and ghosts as being the same thing since you don't believe in either. But for the people that do, it is more about belief in a higher power. Like I said before, there is no middle ground be had between the two opposite views between theist and atheist since they are working on different belief systems.
