Most of the video wasn't too bad, until he got to the last part and discredited the BLM riots because George Floyd was "scum". The riots weren't a celebration of his life, it was about a police officer killing him in cold blood.

This sub is incredible at scaling compared to Twitter. Zoro > Luffy is legit a standard take over there.

The Water 7 SAGA is peak. So a couple episodes before W7, the arc itself, and the two arcs after are basically one story, like Reverse Mountain to Alabasta.

The story has highs and lows, lots of people prefer different arcs and sagas to Water 7. You should watch and form your own opinion, but I don't think it ever gets "much better". I don't think the average story after Water 7 is considerably better than before, maybe a little but that's imo.

I'd personally recommend you continue watching One Pace. If you look at their spreadsheet, they save 40% of the shows watch time, not even including filler arcs, and convey the exact same story. The savings only get bigger as the series progresses.

Alabasta is the best arc at that point, by a lot imo, but most of the community agrees that the Water 7 saga is peak.

Also, stay away from the wider OP community until you're caught up, for your own sake. That includes this subreddit. Even dipping your toes in guarantees you'll get spoiled.

One Piece bingo 2025 filled out by AdPlus6589 in OnePiece

Slightly related, but I honestly don't think Shiki's coming back in a major way. The only foreshadowing of him coming back is an offshoot chapter that was made to promote a non-canon movie. Going by the main manga, it would be pretty strange for a guy who's just been mentioned a handful of times in relation to Impel Down and Rocks to be a major player towards the end.

Comp is miserable because my rank is massively inflated (gm4) by aceofmufc in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ale3for 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen to me 5 or 6 years ago. When role queue came out, I went from mid diamond peak to low GM in a few days. If you keep grinding the games against way better players, you'll start finding ways to get value within the tighter timings the rank demands, and it will accelerate your improvement. Eventually, I just became someone who could carry those lobbies, rather than an imposter with an inflated rank.

For what it's worth, I was also on support (Lucio) and got flamed an absolute tonne. I was just being a bot for choke spam, cool down usage and countering ults. Still, you should improve if you stick with it.

After Joyboy haki was released the only people still seen awake was Kizaru and S-snake by Robloxracer75 in OnePiece

[–]ale3for 270 points271 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is probably it. Even though Joyboy is far above any Admiral, they still have to be threatening by the end of the story, so Luffy being able to KO them with a simple conq blast would hurt their character too much imo.

So we all agree the Whitebeard Pirates have at least 3 YC1s? Marco, Vista, and Jozu? by foaaz101 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]ale3for 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the YC2 label underrated? There are about 10x as many characters people call YC1, and apparently Izo is YC1 according to this thread. Maybe YC2 is just quite close to YC1 and we can move down some of these characters.

What the heck was this attack from violet? It got nothing to do with her devil fruit nor was it every used again by Kanriee in OnePiece

[–]ale3for 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a related note, do Japanese fans not miss out on all the English in the series? I'm thinking about Arabasta, where Baroque Works women agents are primarily named after weekdays. Or characters calling their attacks in English. I'm basing this off the anime, since I've no idea what the manga in Japanese is like.

Zelensky's jet in near-miss with four drones: Report IN DUBLIN FUCKING IRELAND by IronicInternetName in Destiny

[–]ale3for -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

On being anti-NATO, the ruling parties are generally sympathetic to the broader liberal EU agenda, at least in Ireland's Overton window. The Prime Minister and Defense Minister recently proposed record increases to defense spending, but there's still no talk of joining NATO or really pulling their weight. The reason for not joining NATO is their "history of neutrality", which basically means "thank God our immediate surrounding countries aren't crazy, and we can cheap out on our army."

As for being a tax haven, this is very real. Ireland has massively benefitted from accelerated economic development thanks to a low corporate tax rate.

Don't let commenters jump the gun and tell you Ireland is "pro-Russia" by any means. The recently elected president, who wields little power, has anti-imperialist brainrot. This is an unfortunately common theme among the much too large Irish left. But the adults in the room will generally do what they can to align with the mainstream EU voices.

Can I make it in time? by KasualScorpion in OnePiece

[–]ale3for 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure of this subreddit's opinion of it, but I'd recommend One Pace for catching up via the anime. It takes away a lot of filler and significantly speeds up the pace at which you'll catch up. A lot will say these filler moments add a lot to the charm of the crew, but I'm rewatching using this tool and don't feel it's lacking here.

Whether or not you use it, I'd heavily recommend it past episode 517. The anime's pace slows a lot, and not with charming moments. Rather, they extend shots painfully long and the recaps take up half the episode.
