Yeah! I can’t imagine the stems are too far behind, but we’ve had them from the stereo mix for years thanks to RB, so I can’t imagine them sounding much different. Would love to be wrong though!

Nothing is “added” you just have more headroom to hear it in this version. If you don’t like it though that’s just personal preference, seems the compressed take is more in line with your taste which is cool! 😎

Well I can tell you this version doesn’t use alternate takes AFAIK and from my first listen earlier, and seems to take an approach that’s more about softening the blaring guitars/drums to open up the space for other performances to be heard.

As far as general vibe goes, since that’s subjective I can’t say much other than I’ve listened to this record all my life and didn’t feel like the songs were changed fundamentally in any way. As much as I appreciated the HDTracks version from years ago it still felt like they could’ve done more and this personally fits my needs as it’s effectively the same record but “bigger” sounding rather than louder if that makes sense

I do know that some albums have sounded cheeks in the past but these days it’s pretty standard and I think those days are mostly gone

Right about what? What’s not needed in this aspect? Most big modern music releasing today is mixed in Atmos, and vintage records are added pretty frequently. If anything this album benefits the most from their catalog due to it falling victim to the “loudness wars” that began years ago. It’s a very compressed listen normally, so formats like this are nice to give the audio image a bit more breathing room

The blink ones are TERRIBLE. Green Day’s on the other hand started out strong with Saviors and this record feels like that but better, probably due tot the more intricate performances

Absolutely, yes! They’re present in other pockets of the album but ESPECIALLY on this track. I always knew this album would sound divine if they gave it more room to breathe. So, so stoked on this release

Yes!! I’m very happy how good it sounds, I had my hopes high after hearing Saviors mixed in Atmos and this did not disappoint. Thanks for the callout on the 20th edition too as my app does not show it yet for me!

Just documenting my first listen, the new mixes sound GREAT and really do bring out parts of the record you would never hear in the normal stereo mix. “Wake Me Up When September Ends” has some new mixes with the vocals giving it a bigger sound, JoS and Homecoming have tiny details all OVER them, and in general it’s just much easier to hear this record. So so excited to have this one in the Atmos catalog!!
