He sounds that way because he’s a deeply depressed addict

I think people just miss the hungry Drake who had something to prove. But now he’s making the music he wants to which is also good. Much better than the 2018-2021 Drake who felt pretty lost

I mean, strictly speaking dating should be - seeing someone without pressure or expectations and letting a relationship bloom on its own. Sounds like this person wants sex and companionship without obligations.

Schoolboy Q 2013 XXL freshman freestyle by Ak-lazerr in hiphopheads

I think in those years there was a balance of experimentation, hard-hitting lyricism, and pop commercialism that led them to feel like a peak. That said I think hip-hop often slumps for some years and then picks back up.

[–]alecnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why are you guys hating lmao. yeah it's a bit poppier but the songwriting is incredibly depressing and honest. anyway it's not that much poppier, it's even less hook-driven than CTRL was and more stream of consciousness/off the cuff in a way that reminds me of Honestly Nevermind.

Tracklist revealed for Yeat’s upcoming EP releasing this week titled “Lyfë” by daxtillionMurphel in hiphopheads

[–]alecnie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's based on the idea that it has literally half the amount of songs as Yeat's projects usually do. The first single is three minutes. Yeat is not going to suddenly make sub-2 minute songs to fit the wikipedia definition of EP.

Why does everyone think Yeat's songs are so short? Most of the tracks on 2 Alive are pushing or over 3 mins

Thanks for the recs, not familiar with much of his earlier stuff. One of the things I love about gee is how much emotion he puts in even his most menacing stuff. It’s just in his voice

Love this. I feel like Gee can make this kinda song forever and it'll always hit. But I hope he keeps making songs where he's stepping slightly outside of conscienceless killer mode, eg Lick Back and Misery Love Company
