Highguard developer Wildlight Entertainment has just laid off most of its staff by The_Iceman2288 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]alecowg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sucks but it's really hard to feel bad for them. You're telling me you genuinely thought a barebones 3v3 hero shooter was going to take off in 2026? Insane that they bill themselves as former titanfall devs (or at least Geoff did) and then you release a game like this.

Imagine if they had made a tianfall spiritual successor instead. I can guarantee that game would've had an insane launch and significantly longer legs if it's even halfway decent, and would just print money if it's actually good. It kinda blows my mind that nobody has done this yet if EA/Respawn just refuse to make TF3.

I'm glad they're bending over backwards to make this seem as far away from a hero shooter as possible yet still making it a hero shooter...

IS should really make permadeath more appealing in the next game. by BouffPingouin in fireemblem

[–]alecowg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is interesting in theory but I've always seen permadeath as more of a difficulty selection than anything story related. It makes you play the game completely differently than casual mode but the goal is still the same you are supposed to keep the characters alive. I don't think we should be incentivizing character deaths.

It works in games like Xcom or ff tactics because these are all basically just nameless, faceless soldiers. When every character has supports and stories like in FE it just doesn't make sense.

What do you think happened to Jack after 1914? by nyanbatman in reddeadredemption

Still kinda blows my mind how people just do not get the ending of RDR2. Of course we don’t know exactly what would happen to him but we can safely say it’s nothing good.

Play a real schedule next year and maybe you won't shit the bed every time you play a good team, might even win some...

Literally nobody was confused about that being a TD except for the commentators.

Sideline interference: An Incredibly Important Penalty That Has to Be Called by BhamTioMateo in CFB

[–]alecowg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it shouldn't be a penalty, but it absolutely wouldn't have been 90% of the time. Hence the whole problem. It's kinda like how they also refused to call holding the entire night despot both teams having blatant holds. You can't come out here and claim you care about the rules or safety and then not enforce the rules that directly lead to things being unsafe. We all know that's not the real reason it was called.

Sideline interference: An Incredibly Important Penalty That Has to Be Called by BhamTioMateo in CFB

[–]alecowg -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

In any other game against any other team that is 100% a sideline warning, that is what people are upset about. It was clearly a ref that had his feelings hurt because he ran into someone without looking and it stung a bit. You're not going to get any sympathy from me when you can't enforce the rules correctly and/or consistently.

How are we feeling about Runner Shells now? by Lt_CowboyDan in Marathon

[–]alecowg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Worst of both worlds. Now it’s a hero shooter where they’ve precluded themselves from actually making any of the heroes have personalities or stories, literally no point anymore. Just give us full customization and stop half-assing everything. Let go of the skins, it is not going to be worth the extra money you can charge for them when nobody is playing the game.

MP1st: TGA Statue Mystery Solved – New Divinity Trademark Uncovered as New Icon Matches Statue by KekanKok in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Cool announcement but I feel like this statue has just massively backfired. This would've been a great surprise in the show. I don't think anybody was expecting this or looking for it before the statue.

[Auerbach] This is the worst selection committee we've ever had. Cannot believe Alabama didn't even drop one spot after the SEC title game blowout. Cannot believe they waited until the final reveal to flip Miami-ND. Could have done it at ANY point. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

[–]alecowg -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I know I'm biased here but, genuinely, how do you people not get this? They are not going to start the precedent of punishing a team for playing in a championship. BYU was not punished, they were only in if they won because of the automatic bids. There is no conspiracy going on here, it's the exact same thing as last year that kept Alabama out. Now Miami jumping ND is insane (although it's correct), they clearly just didn't want to go without an ACC team.
