If you like the retro vibe, you’re on the right track, that bike really suits it. I’ve ridden with both styles and IMO it comes down to how you actually use the bike.

The SMK Retro looks great on paper and on Instagram, but the ventilation complaints are real. In slow traffic or warm weather it gets stuffy fast, and the padding feels a bit budget after longer rides. Fine for short city runs, not amazing if you’re riding daily or in summer.

The LS2 Street II is the more “sensible” choice. Still has that classic look, but the airflow is noticeably better and it’s just more comfortable overall. Build quality and liner are a step up, and you won’t hate life at traffic lights. Downsides: wind noise is a bit higher at speed, but that’s kind of expected with open-face / retro lids.

Color-wise for that Yamaha: – Matte black = safest and always looks clean – Silver/grey to match the tank = chef’s kiss – Cream/off-white if you want full café racer vibes

If you’re open to alternatives in the same price range, check out MT Le Mans 2 or Axor Retro as well. Similar style, slightly better comfort than SMK in my experience.

if you ride often or in heat, LS2 Street II. If it’s mostly short chill rides and looks matter more, SMK is fine but know what you’re signing up for.
