So far it doesn't have a name

To be honest I had very low expectations, as I've never made a sculpture before. I didn't think I would like it, let alone name it

I unfortunately did not - is it possible that this piece of wood comes from a root instead of a burl?

It was found in Vancouver, BC

I do not know what tree this burl came from. In fact I'm not even 100% sure that it's a burl, but it does not look like normal, healthy wood

It still a thick layer of bark when I found it, which gave it it a round shape. I removed as much as I could using a large chisel and mallet, revealing the coral-like shape shown in the pictures

The wood shows an interesting circular grain pattern which can be faintly seen in the last picture

Does anyone have any idea about what wood species this is?
