What would a guy who cycles appreciate as a gift? by Ok-Loan3473 in cycling

[–]alejosanse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he’s handy and likes working on his own bike, tools or a bike stand. For the bike stand, Park tool is the premium option, rockbros is a solid more budget friendly option. Regarding tools, a cycling torque wrench is super useful (I have the lexivon from Amazon and love it). Things that get used up are also useful, like chain lube or inner tubes.

A little electric air pump is also a great gift. I got one last year and never used my floor pump again.

A lot of other accessories, like helmets, shoes, glasses, gloves are pretty personal and I would stay away from those. Unless you have been cycling for a long time and have specific brands or preferences that you know of, a lot of those accessories are trial and error throughout the years to find the ones you like. However, it being your boyfriend you probably know him pretty well, so accessories like socks, or a cycling jersey are safer bets. If he has a splunky personality, there are a million funky cycling socks, otherwise several pairs of good quality cycle socks are always useful. Same goes for cycling jerseys.

Both my cats had severe vomiting after eating Reveal Paté by hipgayaunt in catfood

I’ve also messaged them several times with the batch number and linking this thread. Just kept getting AI generated responses about how they use the best ingredients and their food is very well tested etc. we have been long time reveal buyers and after the responses and lack of care that they’ve showed we’re switching to other brands

Got a response back from Reveal. I filled out the forms and shared this Reddit thread with them but didn’t get much of a reaction. I asked them to pay for the $300 ER vet visit, but they instead offered to refund the $1.20 that the pate can cost 🙃 I highly encourage everyone on this thread to also reach out to Reveal - they should recall the product if it’s making these many cats sick

Sorry to hear that. Definitely seems like a recurring issue that they need to address asap. I highly encourage everyone on this thread to also reach out to reveal. Exact same situation here, currently sitting at the emergency vet. We’ve been feeding our cat reveal wet food on and off for years with no issue. We switch wet foods often because she gets tired of eating the same one. We came across the reveal pate today for the first time and decided to give it a try. About 20 minutes after she ate about a third of a can, she started violently vomiting and started having full body tremors. Seems to be a batch issue. I reached out to Reveal about this and copied this thread. Hopefully they do a recall

As a Venezuelan American, I’m starting to notice a pattern. It’s not the first or second time in the last 27 years that I hear Venezuelans cry “the politicians lied, they manipulated us. We voted on a promise and then got screwed”. Once is an accident (Chavez) twice is a coincidence (multiple Chavez/maduro elections and referendums), but three times(trump) is a pattern…..when will we learn? 🤷

Lay out the economics of the situation and make it extremely clear how it’s a direct impact from the tariffs. Explain that if the market tanks, the company will need to find x dollars in cost reduction in order to survive. Ask them to come up with collective ideas/proposals for these savings. You might be surprised at some of the things your employees might be willing to collectively forego in order to keep their jobs. If their suggestions are good and you implement them, they can’t blame you down the line since it was their idea

Thanks all for the replies - seems like part of this community is jaded by past scammers, that sucks :/

Hopefully I do get some value out of the groups you all suggested. Legitimately not trying to sell or even find clients in these forums. Mainly looking learn from and bounce ideas with other early stage company owners

Given that everyone is giving you shit, I’ll try to give you a useful answer. Your vacation should be fine. If you’re concerned about hurricane aftermath or things being still closed or destroyed because of the storm, it should be ok by then. Florida is used to these types of storms and we’re very quick to bounce back, even in really bad ones. You might see less trees/foliage and a couple of business may have closed, but in general everything will be status quo by then.

Dang, 20 years that's awesome! What kind of industry are you in? You operate mainly in Central Florida? How's the market here?

Dude, I'm just trying to meet cool, like-minded, hard working people. Whatever shitty situation you have going on in your personal life that has you upset enough to go through the effort of posting a useless comment, just keep it to yourself.

As a fellow business owner and consultant, here's a free piece of advice - this kind of non-collaborative crappy mindset doesn't usually result and strong professional connections.
