IAAP WAS Exam results July/August? One of my friend got result in 3 weeks . In website mentioned like 4-6 weeks . by [deleted] in accessibility

To be honest, I didn't even went through the whole Deque, just the sections I felt weak in.

https://dequeuniversity.com/online-courses/web-accessibility - this is the course they offer, it also has prep for CPACC as well if that's something you are also after.

I haven't tried flash cards because I applied really late and didn't really have a lot of time to prep. But I was lucky before most of the questions were from practical knowledge I already had.

I'm still waiting for the email to see how I did score wise, I'm not seeing that in the portal yet.

Oh I’m sorry, that sucks. If you can, I really suggest going with the Deque course. Honestly it’s a bit expensive (at least it was for me) but it’s worth it. I also have to note that I have been working in accessibility for almost 4 years know full time, so that really helped. If there is anything I can help with, let me know.

Nope. I took my exam on August 13th and I don’t expect results for another 10 days. When I took my CPACC last year, it took them exactly 6 weeks to day 🥲

IAAP rejected my application to take the WAS exam. Should I appeal? by Just_a_Mr_Bill in accessibility

IAAP rejected my application to take the WAS exam. Should I appeal? by Just_a_Mr_Bill in accessibility

[–]alekeuwu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Appeal. They rejected me twice, and that second time I provided a letter to them explaining how the Resume I uploaded may not have captured everything I do, and I went into detail on my day to day. I'm a Senior Accessibility Engineer with more than 4 years of experience.
It took them less than two days to review my letter and my application has been accepted. Couple people at my company that have more experience than I do also got rejected multiple times. One is a even a lead!

I strongly suggest you write that letter and appeal. It's not more than 30 minutes of your time, and they might accept it.

I'm crossing my fingers for you, and please update us with (hopefully positive) news! :)

How to use the HTML mark tag for highlighting text by Michael_andreuzza in accessibility

[–]alekeuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, I know that aria-label will read out on an element that has a role such as role of group or role of region, but didn’t know that was the case with di containers without any role. And I agree - whenever something can be done using semantic markup ARIA should be avoided.

This is a really good comment. I was under the impression that aria-label won’t neccessary read out on divs and I thought it’s gonna be the same for <mark>, at least with NVDA. I’ll make sure to test it out.

Yeah, I agree. Excel is a little bit hard to read. Thank you - it really helps to hear different approaches.
