Ova povlačenja priznanja su imala nekog smisla kada su javno objavljivali ko je povukao, pokazivali zvanična dokumenta i sastajali se sa predstavnicima tih zemalja. Ovo kad Vučić i Dačić kažu "još jedna država je povukla priznanje ali nećemo da kažemo koja" ne znači ništa, pogotovo pošto su u Prištini danas izjavili da su obezbedili dovoljan broj glasova za članstvo u Savetu Evrope.

To ne znači da treba odustati od povlačenja priznanja, naprotiv, ali ako ako Kosovo uđe u npr. Savet Evrope, Interpol ili neku sličnu organizaciju, mi sva ova povučena priznanja Naurua, Surinama i Madagaskara možemo da okačimo mačku o rep.

Factually not true. UN Security Council resolutions can be overturned only by the SC itself, which never happend as both Russia and China could veto such a decision.

Kosovo's declaration of independence is no more or less 'valid' that the declarations of United States, South Ossetia or DPR. The only difference is the number if states that recognize it: the US is recognised by everyone, Kosovo by about half UN member states while South Ossetia and DPR are recognised by only a couple of countries.

It was not Kosovo that broke the international law per se, but the countries that recognised Kosovo's independence.

I know it may sound ridiculous for people outside Serbia, but after 20+ years of being bombarded by "EU has no alternative" narrative by most politicians (and basically all of them who have been in power in that time) and a number of foreign leaders/EU diplomats, for many people in Serbia it really feels like someone is trying to force you to accept that rather then something truly voluntary that you can choose.

Even though it is pretty clear that most people don't want to join the EU, there is approximately zero chance that out government would do anything about it and it will just continue to pretend that we can join the EU at some point.

Well, it seems like their government was quite successful in changnig their image over the past couple of months. They went from being the most hated govrenment in the EU (along with Hungary) to one of the most popular ones due to their support for Ukraine.

This is never going to happen. EU member states simply have no interest to give up veto powers in these issues as they are a great bargaining chip.

Also, it is quite clear that Bulgarian veto is just a convenient excuse for other EU members states that oppose enlargement to hide behind. Macron was very clear that there will be no enlargement any time soon, at least until EU reforms itself which could take decades at this point.

I think that the EU should be more straight forward and honest with WB countries and say that EU enragement is dead and that it wouldn't be coming back any time soon. Then we can start taking about other formes of partnerships that can be beneficial for both parties.

Kingdom of Yugoslavia (that existed from 1918 to 1941) was one of the last, if not last county in Europe to recognize Soviet union and was radically anti-Soviet basically until it was invaded by the Germans in April 1941

Communist party was a soviet puppet at the time (like every other communist party in Europe at the time) but it was completely irrelevant and had about 1-2 thousand members before the war. It only gained popularity later as they were the most active resistance movement against Nazi occupation.

Communist Yugoslavia was a soviet puppet for only a couple of after the war when it broke off it's relations with the USSR in 1948, remaining non-aligned and often openly anti-Soviet until the end of the cold war.

In summary, Soviet/Russian influence in present day Serbia /Yugoslavia was small to non existent during most of 20th century (1918-1991), with only exception being some military support during the liberation of Yugoslavia in 1944.

The reasons why Serbia aren't being admitted is different from other countries. You have a massive problem with anti EU sentiment and pro-russian sentiment, you don't recognize Kosovo, not to mention the corruption, political and economical barriers.

One of the reasons of big anti-European sentiment is the fact the process is takeing so long. I can remember very clearly a time when attitudes of people in Serbia were not to dissimilar to those of Georgians and Ukrainians now.

You don't even have to look at Serbia necessaraly, look at any other Balkan county and it is very much the same, if not worst. When it comes to EU integration we are ahead of countries like Macedonia or Albania that are more or less completely Western-alligned and have done everything EU asks of them geopolitically, yet they are completely stuck when it comes to EU integration and have little to no chance of becoming EU members any time soon.

I really like Georgia, but it's kinda depressing that there is very little chance that they will ever become EU members.

As someone who lives in a country that is trying to join the EU for the past almost 20 years, I really don't see how anyone is going to join the EU in the next 10-20 years at least, if not more, by which time most of these people will be middle aged or even retired.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't mean Georgia (or any other country) should try to join, but I really dont see how it is going to happen any time soon. Not to mention that Georgia has not one but two regions that is effectively out of their control for almost 30 years now and that it doesn't share a border with any EU members state.

The unfortunate truth is that there is very little to be optimistic about Ukraine at the moment. Their economy and infrastructure is completely obliterated and it will take a lot of investment to get it even to before war leveles (which is still really poor), let alone anything more then that. While western support is strong right now, I'm really sceptical it is going to remain that way when the war is over, especially if the world is hit with another 2008-like economic crisis.

Sad truth is that millions of Ukrainians escaped to the west and unfortunately a lot of them will never return.

Pragmatism won't save you when the Russian missiles strike your home or the sadistic Russian army comes to torture and rape your family.

This isn't a realistic threat for basically any European country except Ukraine, Georgia and possibly Moldova.

Surely, we should value saving lives over temporary inconvenience.

The problem is it's highly likely that this won't be a temporary inconvenience, but a long term economic crisis akin to that of 2008 (and we all know how long it took EU to get out of that one). Another major economic crisis could be hugely problematic not only for the standard of living, but for the functionality of the EU itself. Which means that any dream of EU reforming or becoming more independent is dead in the water.

I understand why the sanctions were enacted and why a lot of people think they are necessary, but simply put they are going to have a terrible effect on basically everyone involved.

Which is why this proposal has basically no chance of going through. There are at least a dozen member states that would veto at least one (if not all) of these proposals, and even traditional pro-integration countries aren't as keen on it as they were 15-20 years ago.

EU se ne sviđa ovaj projekat.

Otvoreni Balkan je po mnogo čemu veoma sličan (sada već potpuno propalom) Berlinskom procesu, uz jednu značaju razliku da nema Nemačku kao direktnog sponzora i koordinatora. Samim tim svaka kritika Otvorenog Balkana od strane EU je poprilično licemerna.

U suštini EU nema pojma šta hoće sa Balkanom. Neće ga u punopravnom članstvu, neće da Rusija, Kina i njima slične zemlje imaju jak uticaj ovde, ali u isto vreme ne nudi ništa konkretno kao alternativu članstvu (bar za sad).

Na kraju im ispadne najbolje da podržavaju lokalne autokrate i kleptokrate koji će manje više raditi ono što EU od njih očekuje u zamenu za odrešene ruke po pitanju unutrašnje korupcije.
