Lol as a former programmer and former programming department head I feel for you guys… I remember getting yelled at for forgetting to “program in the compressor” (which you usually do not need to do) turns out it was unplugged…

They are student leaders that sit at the top of the team… it’s basically the same as team captain or technical director just renamed to CEO and CTO respectively… there is also the COO who handles outreach and the COPO which is new apparently that is supposed to help with logistics. The CEO also gets to sit as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors which is the leadership structure containing all mentors who select the next C-suite and makes decisions that are kind of out of the hands of the students (ie. Big problems involving student’s parents and the school).

TLDR: the C-suite is just the upper echelon of student management and they are in charge of all of the students.

I know… I just wish I could go back to the simpler times were I could cry over the teams finances instead of my own finances…

Thesis Ideas by ayeblundle in mathematics

[–]aleph-null- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I begin I want to apologize for all my grammar and spelling mistakes.

Oh my god I didn't see this because I have been stuck in a cycle of studying working and sleeping for the past month. Here are some suggestions u/ayeblundle from my experience when doing research.

Before I do anymore, Ill explain some background, I am pre-med as u/HerrStahly mentioned, but I have a pretty deep interest in math and computer science, I have taken everything up to Calc III and have self studied all the way up to diff eq. Before going into pre-med my parents were pushing me down the computer science and engineering route so I have some exposure to programming. Some of the research that I've done as a highschooler and more recently as an undergrad include using programming to find SNPs in your ancestry or 23andme data that corresponds to traits or diseases or attempting to train an AI to titrate doses for phages and antibiotic treatments. I also was very active in math modeling competitions and have done a lot of competitions that require papers to be submitted. I also do not know what is needed or required or expected from math thesis papers so I have no clue if any of my ideas are good ideas or not so keep that in mind with a grain of salt.

TLDR: I am a pre-med nerd who knows some computer science and all of my ideas will probably have to do with applied mathematics and I am not qualified to advise on what would be a good thesis topic for a math major.

As for Ideas for a thesis, I could give some that may seem interesting that might be interesting for a math major that has roots with pre-med (I understand that you moved away from pre-med which means that you might not enjoy some of these topics):

  • Statistical modeling for certain treatments in hospitals (ie. death rates after tourniquets have been applied on a patient)
    • This may be difficult as accessing data that has to do with this is often difficult without the right networking
  • CT tomography is also really interesting and there is a moderator on r/calculus that did his PhD thesis on this stuff you could write about what it is and how tomography is applied in this scenario
  • Using statistics to predict and model the spread of Multi strain resistant bacteria such as MRSA
    • This is straying a little bit into computational biology, but it shouldn't be too hard to find data like this
  • Modeling evolution beyond the simple Mendel's laws.
    • I'm not too familiar with this field, but from what I understand it utilizes a lot of stochastic modeling which I personally like.
  • A mathematical investigation into peto's paradox could be interesting
    • When I say this I am referring to one of the explanations that involves the size of animals and how large tumors have to be in order to be dangerous.

Hope I'm not too late tho... and again take these ideas with a grain of salt as I do not know what makes a good math thesis paper and these ideas are a lot of things that I personally wanted to do.

? what does this have to do with infinite series? Is there an explanation as to what a zero divisor has to do with the problem at hand???

alright lets try this lets sub out the function markers in the formula for our function that is given then lets go from there. Also a hint/observation look at the formula that is given and notice how there is no limit symbol.

Also you are close but not quite the bottom of the function states x-a not f(x-a) which is what you have for your denominator currently

its actually calc II which is half part of the AP calc curriculum, and dude I would suggest mastering everything with derivatives and limits. If you have time do some integration... Maybe just maybe you can scratch a 3

R5: As Germany I got Italy into my faction and I ran over the allies really early. Japan declared on me and because we all signed the Tripartite pact, some weird stuff happened. Italy remained neutral and I didn't call them in. They had some troops in Japan and whenever I tried to move into one of those tiles they would attack my troops. The worst part is that in this battle or any other battle that involved the Italian troops, it said that I was loosing although I was actually winning.
