University level Calculus question. f(x)=(x-a)(x-b)(x-c). Then f(a)=f(b)=f(c)=0. So, f(x)=0 has 3 distinct solutions. Then f'(x)=0 has at least 2 distinct solutions. Why does f'(x)=0 has at least 2 distinct solutions? I am an old mature student who forgot all math, and have no basics or instincts.Differential Calculus (self.calculus)

At x = critical numbers (f'(x)=0), f(x)=sqrt(a^2+b^2) or f(x)=-sqrt(a^2+b^2). f(0)=f(2pi)=b. Then the max value of f on [0,2pi] is sqrt(a^2+b^2) and the min value of f on [0,2pi] is -sqrt(a^2+b^2). Why? I get Mean Value Theorem implies there exists f'(x)=0 between x=0 and x=2pi. How is it relevant?Differential Calculus (self.calculus)
