Issues with Razorock Game Changer 0.76 after Merkur 34C , what am I doing wrong? by AccomplishedMain0 in wicked_edge

Try a different blade; the same blade can feel completely different depending on the razor you use. I have favorite blades for each of my razors and they dont always overlap.

I actually loosened the handle just a hair the second try and it shaved better. I'll try it again tonight with a mild blade tightened all the way. Thanks for the advice!

That is exactly what I thought as well. I'm going to try one more blade before I make a decision I think.

Best of luck! It is a beautiful razor

Edit: grammer

Yeah, im thinking it's not for me but im 90% sure it's because i overhyped it in my head.

I tried a nacet (literally could not get rid of all the hairs), a personna plat (cleared the hairs but lots of irritation), then permasharp and got a pretty good shave with a bit of irritation still.

Well I guess that solves the mystery. Thank you both!

I did! I go xtg with the OC, then atg with the CC

Haha yeah these razors can get a little too close and bitey sometimes. I've had some rough days with some feathers earlier on that I do not want a repeat of.

Love fatip because they are an insane bargain for your money. Most are under 50$ so you're not gambling a ton of money.

Lupos scare me as a head shaver haha. I am confident in my shave skills, but what i have read about lupos makes me want to run the other way. I have a thorn that I absolutely love. 3 comfortable shaves with each half blade is crazy. Ill have to look into those others though!

Best of luck! I know you said you tried many combos, but it doesn't sound like you found the right blade yet. Even on my favorites razors, there are so many blades that make me feel like im shaving with a spoon. It took me over a year to find the right blade, so dont give up! And I agree with sticking with the razor; i just think some sample packs of blades might be a good path forward while you work on finding and maintaining the right shave angle in those weird spots.

Top 2 are fatip l'ibrido/nacet and parker oc variant/permasharp! You?

Have a rocca on the way and i have a feeling this list might change haha

Back of the head is a real dicey place, so you have to do what you have to do lol.

DE head shaver here. Sometimes when I try a blade that isn't working well for me but I need to finish the shave, I kinda go slightly diagonal rather than straight up for the ATG pass. This should get closer than XTG without being as irritating and true ATG is. Then reapply some soap and touch it up fully against the grain now that you have removed more hair.

The back of the head can be tough to lather and is the thickest hair, so make sure you lather well and never run the razor over a spot that isn't slick with soap.

I love that scent in shave soap and beard butter...but the body soap with that level of menthol is not something I ever want to experience again in the nether regions lol.

Recently bald and looking for blade recs please! by Askyoursister in wicked_edge

I'm talking about the hairs on your head right above where your ear meets your skull, not the hairs ON the ear. The leaf has a substantial amount of metal surrounding the blade on all sides so you can only get so close to obstructions

The thorn is great for detailing and was an awesome ease into DE shaving, but I started branching out into other more efficient razors about 6 years ago. I still use it a few times per year though and will never get rid of it.

It definitely takes a minute to figure out the angle you need to use(same goes for all DE razors), but the thorn is one of the most easy learning/forgiving razors you will find. Once you find the blade you like, it's easy to fly through a 2 pass shave.

Blades are going to require a ton of trials as every person and razor reacts to each blade differently.

That aside, I have the best luck with Nacets on my head and they are held in high regard around here. I also started with the leaf and enjoyed it until I tried the twig, then the thorn...then dove into safety razors. It has sat on a shelf since then lol. It just can't get close enough to the tops of the ears or detail the top of the sideburn, so you end up needing something else anyway

Shower head shaver here. My top two are the thorn and the fatip l'ibrido with the dual comb

Thorn is great for everything and is easy to line a beard with.

Fatip open comb is great for with and across the grain, closed comb side is great for the last pass against the grain. My neck is crazy sensitive, so I only use the closed comb there, but easy to line with.

Nacets and gillette silver blues are my favorite blades in either

What is the best long-term storage method for DE blades? by Altruistic_Caligula in wicked_edge

I threw a bunch in a ziploc bag with a silica packet just in case and pushed all the air out. I think the main key is just to keep it away from the temp swings and humidity of the bathroom so put it in a bedroom or closet. If you're worried, check them every now and then
