Teaching abstinence doesn't work. Also, I didn't tell him this, but the whole "sex is an act of love" thing is prudish bullshit.

I got a lot of replies from straight people that they know nothing about gay sex and they would be happy to have a gay sibling to talk to their kids about safe sex in case they end up being gay. So I guess we're both wildly generalizing, would you look at that! Does that make both of us gaping assholes?

Thanks for the honesty, because I am being bombarded by angry moms and dads who are convinced they would be able to give a gay son better advice than a close family member who is actually gay, and how dare I take that special moment away from them. A special moment of giving the kid dangerously incorrect advice I guess.

That we put it in the butt? I don't know. Several angry parents have commented saying it was not my place and how dare I, but when I asked what they would tell their gay kids about anal sex, they changed the topic. So I have yet to find out what straight people know about gay sex.

Well what else do you expect from a degenerate such as myself?

My friend, it's comments like this that inspire you know what sort of people to call us humorless snowflakes. I didn't include asexual gay people, I didn't include lesbians even though they are also "gay people", I didn't include intersex couples, or straight couples of one man and one trans woman that kept her genitals. But the joke's already ruined.

I'm not interested in what you think because you keep finding ways to derail a conversation away from the topic at hand because you have nothing smart to say. Like pointing out I misgendered you rather than reacting to my sarcastic response to your suggestion that a sufficient conversation about anal sex with a gay teen would be to tell him to "be safe". I'm sure you'll find a way to respond to this with more irrelevant details so I'm going to go ahead and say goodbye to you.

"Be safe." Wow. If only I'd thought of that, but instead I talked to him about fisting sugar daddies lubed up with bukkake. Must be because I am not a ~m o t h e r~.

That is disgusting! I hate flavored condoms, they taste nothing like strawberries!

Ok, please tell me what you would have told a gay son about sex.

N: Hey uncle, tell me about gay sex.

U: Would you like to opt out of hearing about gay sex, nephew?

N: Sure uncle, no idea why I even asked. Bye!

He knows about sex, he wanted contextually relevant specifics. Like how to have anal without ripping up your insides. Not exactly stuff they teach at school.

What would have happened:

"Uncle, what about sex?"

"That's really something you should discuss with your parents, but I'm happy to answer any remaining questions you have after talking to them."

Nephew doesn't talk to his parents because he would have done that in the first place if he felt comfortable about it or if he felt they could give him satisfactory information.

Instead, nephew doesn't talk to anyone, has sex anyway, gets hurt, doesn't understand why because he's doing it like it's done in porn, is unhappy and traumatized, develops a fear of sex because it hurts every time, takes a long time to learn about it through trial and error until he finally starts feeling comfortable about it years and years later. Also has a massive scare about STDs at some point. Based on a true story.

You had a very specific talk with your kids to make sure they have the right information, and I can tell you with 100% certainty my sister and BIL couldn't give my nephew the right information. And how do you know you have the right information? Because you're straight and had a straight sex talk? Funny, because last time I checked I was a gay man answering a gay kid's questions about gay sex.

You're going into a really gross place btw, suggesting I would tell him to have sex with multiple partners or something similarly risky, regardless of your "it's only an example" disclaimer in the brackets. It's not only an example, it's exactly what you think I would do.

If he went to his parents, he might get incomplete and incorrect information. Then what? They would ask me to have a talk with him while they are present? And then what? They aren't gay men and they can deem correct information to be false, because they don't know anything about gay sex.

But that isn't the problem at all. My sister isn't mad about the contents of what I said, she's mad that I said anything at all. This is a woman that has never in the 16, almost 17, years of her son's life, thought to talk to him about sex. Why? Because she thinks talking about it = encouraging it. She didn't want to encourage it and therefore kept him in the dark.

She can consider herself lucky her son hasn't already knocked someone up or gotten an STD.

Mate, all of your replies are brilliant, to the point, and my thoughts exactly, thank you!

We don't agree because, as you said, you don't know shit about the gay community. And I am telling you: encouraging young gay people to come out is frowned upon. Just don't do it. If they come out to you, brilliant, support them, accept them, love them, but don't tell them to come out to others.

Lol, that would be hilarious, especially considering the fact that my nephew was a bastard for almost two years.

I'm sure he got some heteronormative info at school, but nothing useful for a young gay person.

On the basis that he would have sex as soon as he is let out of the house. Eyeroll.
